Together As One

Lily and Louis have been best friends since childhood. After Louis auditions for the X-Factor and joins a group, Lily goes to meet them. Lily then falls in love with one of the group members, but does he love her back or does another member love her? (There is already a sequel up. It's called Look After You.)

1. Best Friends

Lily: He is my best friend and I am his. It has been this way since we met in nursery school. That day changed my life…

I walked into the unfamiliar building gripping my mothers hand tight. She had told me about this day. The day I would start primary school. I was only 5 years old at the time and scared out of my mind. As we walked through the door to the classroom, I saw a load of other children that looked about my age. I looked up at my mum and she smiled back at me. She was beautiful with her oval shaped face and shoulder length brown hair. Her wide smile made her pale blue eyes light up. “Lily,” she said in a cheerful voice. “im going to leave you here with Miss Emily, okay? I expect you to be on your best behavior. I will be back to pick you up in a couple hours.” Just then, a little boy walked into the room, gripping onto his mothers long skirt with one hand, and gripping onto a worn brown teddy bear with the other. “please, Mama,” he cried. “don’t leave me here. I will miss you.” “aw, Boobear,” she said in a soothing voice. “I t will only be for a couple hours. Besides, youll make loads of new friends and have a lot of fun.”  Just then, someone tapped my shoulder. “hello Lily,” said the woman. “my name is Miss Emily. Do you want to come with me so I can show you around?” I looked at my mum with questioning eyes. “go on then,” she said, her voice a bit shaky. “ill see you later.” I gave her a hug and a kiss before Miss Emily took my hand and led me off. When she asked me what I wanted to do, I looked around. There were some children over by the easels and some by a sandbox. I also saw a table covered in loose crayons and sheets of paper. About five feet from the table there was a carpet. The same boy I saw earlier was sitting alone and sucking on his teddy bear. Our eyes met and he quickly turned away. “I would like to color please,” I said to Miss Emily, answering her question. She led me over to the table and introduced me to the chidren sitting there, but I didn’t pay attention. I could not stop thinking about the boy. I sat down to color, focusing on staying inside the lines like Oliver had taught me. Just then, my arm knocked over a bucket full of crayons making them spill on the ground. I thought nobody had noticed, so I got on my knees and started putting crayons back in the bucket. Just then, my hand touched something- no! someONE. I knew it had to be a persom because I could hear the breathing and feel the warmth on their hand. I quickly pulled my arm away and muttered, “sorry,” and looked up. I found myself face-to-face with the boy that I saw earlier. That was the first time I saw his eyes. They were a pale green color and in them I saw fear, anxiety, and a hint of something I couldn’t place. “that’s okay,” he said looking at me with a bit of a smile playing on his lips. “do you need some help?” he asked. “thank you,” I said blushing and looking at the ground. “what is your name?” the boy asked me. “Lily Grahm,” I replied. “whats yours?” “Louis Tomlinson,” he said. “pleased to meet you.” Ever since that day, the “boy with the bear” was my best mate.
