5. My Great Escape

I glanced at the clock on my dresser, 5:08. My parents should be home anytime. Dinner was already made and set on the table, I made it like I do every night. I grabbed my bags and headed downstairs. I set them by the door. Savannah was up in her room blasting One Direction. Just as I walked in the kitchen my mom arrived home. Then my father right behind her. Great

My dad busted through the door first, as he does every night. He sat down at the table and began eating. "Great job." He said with a mouthful of spaghetti.

"Savannah! Get down here! Dinner!" My mother yelled throwing her purse on the couch. I heard Savannah's music shut off and her feet coming down the stairs.

My mom took the seat next to my father and Savannah and I sat across from them. We began eating in silence. That's how most nights were, my parents would come home tired and hungry. Just as we were all finishing dinner I finally spoke up.

"Harry came by today." I said finishing my food.

"Did he? I thought he was part of that music thingy." My mother said.

"He is, his band was in town so they wanted to say hi." I replied.

"I wish I could of seen him. It's been forever since I last saw him." My mother said.

"Did he really just stop by to say hi?" My father asked.W

"Well he also told me I could come on tour with them and start my career as a singer." I mumbled.

"A singer?" My mother asked.

"Yeah. It's something I've enjoyed." I answered.

"What about college?" My father asked.

"I'll drop out." I told him. He nearly choked on the water he was gulping.

"No, no daughter of mine is dropping out of college." My father told me.

"Dad, this is a one in lifetime chance for me. I could make it big." I explained.

"No, you're going to go to college and become a doctor." My dad ordered me. He was a doctor my mom was a nurse, it ran in the family and he wanted the tradition to keep going.

"Nicole! Listen to your father. Stop dreaming and open your eyes." My mother raised her voice at me.

"You can't be serious." I mumbled.

"I'm damn serious." My father said.

"You're staying and going to college, no buts." My mom told me. That's when I heard the sound of a horn, Niall. He was here early.

"What was that?" My mom asked.

"My great escape," I told her, "I'm leaving." I got up and walked to the door.

"Nicole!" My mother yelled. My dad grabbed my wrist. I pulled away.

"I'm eighteen now, you can't tell me what to do anymore." I grabbed my bags and opened the door. I glanced at Savannah she was crying. "Savannah, I love you." I closed the door behind me.

The limo driver grabbed my bags and put them in the trunk then I heard my father come out yelling. "You're a disgrace! You're a mockery of this family!" He shouted and he started to run after me. I quickly went in the limo and locked the door.

I rolled down the window, "I'm sorry." Tears were streaming down my face.

"You're not my daughter anymore." My father took one last look at me as the driver started the engine and started driving away.
