Forever Young

Marie was an average girl. Until she wasn't.

23. Laura Explains

This can’t be happening right now.  I can’t believe this.  I can’t believe him.  I hear a muffled shuffling behind me.  I assume it’s just Niall going back to his bench.  That idiot!  That two-faced jerk!  I just don’t want to deal with this right now.  I turn around to give him one last glare.  I see a flash of brown hair and assume it’s Brooke.  I give an annoyd sigh.  I am so fed up with him!  I continue my run back to the flat.

I dash inside the flat.  I push past everyone.  They all glance at me with confused looks on their faces.  They decided to be smart and not ask what was up quite yet.  I storm to my room and slam the door behind me.

The rest of the day has been a blur of tears, movies, and Ice Cream that I think Kianna brought me.  I hear a knock at my door.  “Who is it!”  I said, as loud as I could muster.  My throat was sore from all of my crying.  “Laura.”  Laura’s farmiliar kind voice replied.  “Come in.”  I say quietly.  She softly opened and closed my door.  She sat on the edge of my bed.  I noticed she had some blood on her hands.  She saw me looking at them, and quickly hid them.  “Laura…”  I started.  She sighed.  “I was hoping you wouldn’t see my hands.  Look, Marie?  I need to talk to you.”  She said.  I glance up at her, and give her a go-on-I’m-litsening look.  She sighs again, before starting her story.

“So, I went on my evening run a little early tonight, because I had nothing better to do.  I got really tired, really fast, so I headed back to the house a little early.  I think that overall, I only ran for about 10 minutes.  Anyways, when I get back, I see two people on the porch.  I get a little closer, and I realize that it’s Brooke and Niall.  They were talking.  I was close enough to hear what they were saying.  Brooke said, and I quote ‘Niall, I had so much fun yesterday!  Let’s do it again, soon!’  Then, Niall nods.  She leans down and kisses him, then stands up and walks away.  I go up to Niall.  I asked him what that was about, and he said he couldn’t tell me.  I told him that I was gonna tell you, and he asked me not to.  I gave him until tonight to make things right.  I told him not to break your heart, or he will be a dead man.  He promised that by tomarrow, your heart would still be perfectly fine.  He broke his promise, so I broke his nose.”  She said, very matter-of-factly.

I glance up at her, sadly.  “Laura, you are the best friend a girl can ask for.”
