The World Below...

Kirstie ( pronounced Kir-s-ty) moves to a small, quiet town in Virginia. At school, the subject sticking to her mind like glue, was History. She was told the Legend of the town, that underneath the surface of the earth, below them, a whole world full of mythical creatures, ivolved.
But when Kirstie goes to explore, she finds out that the story isn't a Legend, it's true...
So Kirstie explores the wonders of this world, every nook, and every cranny.
She meets all kinds of creatures, their powers, their fears, everything. But when Kirstie's back in the Human world, things are different. She'd been reported Missing. It had actually been monthes that she'd disapeared for.
Now, her life is different. Should she tell the truth, and risk the Creatures lives? Or should she lie, and hope that it was believeable?

1. Chapter 1

It was Monday the 22nd of July.

A normal day, everything was going as planned.

English, Art, Double P.E. and then Geography.

I was in Geography, preparing for my speech against Pollution, and Green House Gases. I held the paper in my hand, ready to read.

Miss Hainsworth coughed, holding her large notebook to her chest.

I glanced over to her, as she held out her hand.

" Kerstie, the principle would like to see you. Now".

" Aww, but miss, I was just about to say my speech. I've been looking forward to this for ages. Please, I'd like to do it. Tell sir I'll go when I'm done" I sighed.

" No, Kirstie, you need to go, now. I get paid to listen to him, and to teach. If I don't listen to him, I'll get fired. Go, now!"

" Yes miss".

I placed my speech on the desk in front of me, and slipped out of the classroom quickish.

I wandered around the school, until I reached Mr Howard's office.

I knocked, and put my head against the door.

" Enter!"

I opened the door, and walked into the room.

He was perched on the desk, flicking through cream coloured pages, not even skimming them.

Mum was sitting in a wooden chair, a metre away from the desk.

" Sir, you asked me to come? Um, what's my mum doing here? What's going on?" I asked, making my way over to his desk.

" Kerstie, honey, were moving. I know this is a little sudden, but were going this Friday. Your Principle is looking through the papers now. Were moving to a place called Undertown. It's great, I promise. We'll settle in well, we've got a nice house, it's great".

" Mum! I can't leave now! I have GCSE'S in a few weeks! I was going to get A's! If were moving, the school will do things differently! I won't know the answers. I'll fail" I whined, glancing back and forth between Howard, and mum.

" I know, I know, but it'll be best for us. This Neighbour hood is dangerous at Night. Even in the day. All guys hold knifes to their side, up their sleeves. I'm not having that! And, it won't be great, as I'm having another baby..."

I gawped at her.

The world stopped for a millisecond.

Maybe even a Second.

" Mum...that'".

" Stop being sarcastic, littlemiss!"

" Sir, you can't let me leave! I'm the best, uh, right?"

" Yes, Kirstie, you are. But this is a personal matter. I can't have my say in this. If you mother says it's for the best, I can't deniy it. She's your mother. You need to listen to her. And don't worry about the GCSE'S. Your a smart girl, you'll do great in your new school. Trust me. Headmaster's Honor" he laughed, holding his hand to his head, giving me a Salut.

" Thaks sir" I smiled, giving him a thumbs up.

"So, can I go back to Geography now? I don't want too talk to my mum right now. She'll understand".

" Kerstie, I'm standing right here"

" No, mum, your sitting. And FYI, I thought that bump was you getting fat".

" Kerstie, that is beyond cheeky. Now, go. I need to have a quick word with your Principle" she sighed, shoo-ing me away.

" Fine, fine. Bye sir, bye...uh, nevermind".

I sat on my new bed, watching the sun set over the sea.

My new house was everything I wanted it to be.

A house by the sea. Not right next to it. But only a few miles away.

Mum crept in, trying to be secretive about it. But I heard the door squeak, and she's not that light on her toes.

" Honey, are you okay. I know it was sudden. I'm sorry. But your cheekiness, and in front of that Principle, it made me quite angry"

" It's okay, mum, were not going to see him again" I replied, looking down at my palms, my hands laying in my lap.

" Now, honey, your being cheeky again. It's not my fault, okay, blame it on that Hell-hole, also known as a Neighbour hood".

" Mum, I loved it there. I didn't even mind sharing a room with Ash, even if he does snore. He's 12, and a boy, but he still likes me for comfort" I spoke, looking up.

" I know, babe. It's okay. Just get some sleep. And I hope you like your room. I got a professioal painter to do this. I knew you liked purple. I hope you like it" she smiled, stroking my hair.

" Yes, I love it mum. I know it looks better then I old room, but, my old room was just as perfect. It was a room I've had for a while. It kinda grew on me".

" Yes, I know, you were very passionate about it. Now go to bed, cheekymonkey. I'll see you in the morning. And don't forget. School on Monday".

" You know what? It's great that I'm clever, because, I already knew that".

" Go to bed, Monkey. Now".

I snuggeled down under my old duvet, and rocked myself to sleep.
