Not So Easy

Abbigale Steward is a problem child to say in the least. After her father died when she was three, her mother got caught up in drugs, and her own semi frekewent run-ins with the cops, she was beginning to believe the whole world was against her. Things got so bad she even considered drugs, and worse; suicide. She felt she had nothing left to live for. Until......she met Xavier, her budding romance, and Isaiah, a mysterious boy in her grade 9 history class.

5. The Shocking Story

It was the end of school and I was watching through a big window for the bus.

   "Ally!" someone whispered.

"Look Isaiah, I'm not coming to your house aft-" I said turning around.

Oopsies, that's not Isaiah. Xavier pulled me outside, "I need to talk to you." He said roughly as he led me under a tree.

"Ok whats up?" I asked timidly.

He was still thinking about what I had said earlier thinking he was Isaiah. This was ultimately the worse way to kick off a new relationship.

"Whats going on with you and Isaiah?" he asked, he looked me up and down as if checking if I was hurt, his eyes constantly landing on my neck, "He's not good, Ally, no matter how charming he is or how special he makes you feel. He's bad news, please tell me your not involved in that criminal?"

He didn't even give me time to answer before he dove in to a back breaking story about how Isaiah has been on probation for as long as anyone can remember because he's guilty of murder. He said that the body of the girl was found dead in the local park with all the blood drained from her body. Since then there had been many other deaths with the same outcome but the police weren't able to pin them on Isaiah. He always had ways of getting out, and since his father was the chief commander in the police force, he hasn't been accused of anything since the first death.

"This is crazy" I said, he was still searching my neck so I casually covered it with my hair, "Stop doing that!" I warned.

"Please tell me he hasn't bitten you." Xavier said pleadingly.

"No he hasn't BITTEN me! What's wrong with you? Do you think he's a 'Vampire' of something?" I said putting air quotes around vampire.

He just looked at me, he glanced at my neck one last time and walked away.

That made absolutely no sense, there's no such thing as Vampires. Maybe it was just a coincidence that her blood was drained. Perhaps she had bled to death by a river or something and then been carried to the park. Only problem with that was there were no rivers, lakes, or even streams, within 100 miles each way. Suddenly I felt like I was being watched.

I looked up and there was Isaiah, perched in the tree, like a perfect predator. How long had he been there? I locked eyes with him, something was flickering in his brown eyes, but I couldn't quite tell what it was. Something in the back of my head made me feel like I didn't want to find out. With that I turned and walked away. As I boarded the bus I still felt his eyes burning into my back.
