Not So Easy

Abbigale Steward is a problem child to say in the least. After her father died when she was three, her mother got caught up in drugs, and her own semi frekewent run-ins with the cops, she was beginning to believe the whole world was against her. Things got so bad she even considered drugs, and worse; suicide. She felt she had nothing left to live for. Until......she met Xavier, her budding romance, and Isaiah, a mysterious boy in her grade 9 history class.

9. Still Not Home

The ride home was long, silent, and painful. I could tell Xavier was disappointed and betrayed. But if he knew that truth he would pound Isaiah's face in, and for some odd reason, I didn't want that to happen. I mean he did save me from being attacked my his family. I had to admit they were a scary bunch. I knew deep down that I wasn't really mad at Isaiah, and that I was really actually mad at myself for being such a coward.

Xavier pulled up at my house and I got out. I walked half way up the path and turned around. He was watching me with sad blue eyes. He was too upset to even say good night because he thought I had cheated on him. "Well so what if he doesn't trust me," I thought,"I know the truth and that's all that matters. Nothing happened between me and Isaiah and probably never would."

Today was supposed to be the day mom got back. As I entered the front door and turned on the switch I could tell nobody had been in there since this morning when I left. I walked into my room and flopped down on my bed.

It was time for the dreaded call. I picked up y phone and dialed my mom's number.  Three rings later she answered.

"Hi sweetie! Me and Doug are going to stay for 2 more weeks. We met this awesome family who are going to take us in for a bit. See you soon baby!" she explained, and then hung up before I even got a word in edge wise.

Great, just great, 2 more weeks of breaking the law.
