Not So Easy

Abbigale Steward is a problem child to say in the least. After her father died when she was three, her mother got caught up in drugs, and her own semi frekewent run-ins with the cops, she was beginning to believe the whole world was against her. Things got so bad she even considered drugs, and worse; suicide. She felt she had nothing left to live for. Until......she met Xavier, her budding romance, and Isaiah, a mysterious boy in her grade 9 history class.

7. I Go On A Road Trip

The school bell rang, ending the school day. It was Monday afternoon and I was in for a big surprise. My date with Xavier couldn't have been better. He was the perfect gentlemen. Except for the fact that he was excessively protective, and looked at my neck every 5 seconds.

"Seriously dude! If I didn't have bite marks when you picked me up, I'm not going to have bite marks now!" I wanted to scream at him.

Other than that it had been a very elegant evening. And the obnoxiously expensive outfit that I bought with my mother's credit card made the outing that much better. But no matter how great my date with on Saturday, it was MONDAY now and things were about to change my outlook on life very drastically.

I exited the school and sat on a bench to wait for the bus. Then some random dude's car pulls up. Ok, maybe not so random. I can't see through the windows because they're all tinted completely black along with his wicked Corvette. The passenger side window rolls down and Isaiah's gorgeous face comes into view.

"What do you want?" I say rolling my eyes.

"Ah, don't be like that Abs." He said pouting, "I just need some help on our project that all. You know, the one that's worth 90% of our grade?" He said slowly as if teaching a pre-schooler.

"You mean your asking me, to get in your car, so you can drive to your house, to do homework?" I said, copying his tone.

"Don't worry! Hop in!" He said giving a cheeky smile, "I don't bite."

That was exactly what I was afraid of. And some how he seemed to know it, my emotions must have betrayed me because he looked slightly hurt. Realizing my face must have been a picture a pure terror I plastered a fake smile. It was fair that I was accusing him of something that can't possibly be true. Vampires weren't real and I just had to keep reminding myself that.

Still there was something in that unblinking stare that didn't seem totally right. But I still found myself sliding into the passenger seat of Isaiah's car.

This guy drove like a maniac! I swear if we drove any faster we would have lift off! Clutching the dash board I turned and looked at the psychotic driver sitting next to me. He was completely unnerved. Half focused on the road and half focus on me I was sure he was going to kill us both in a car crash.

"Are you sure you weren't arrested for speeding?!" I squeaked.

He looked over at me and just seemed to realize I was 3 seconds from having a panic attack, "Hey are you ok?" He asked gently, slowing to a normal speed.

"I will be once I get out of this car!" I said accusingly at him.

"Don't worry, we're almost there, we could have been there now if I wasn't so afraid you'd puke in my car." He countered.

"Where are we going?" I asked softly.

He eyed her suspiciously, "My house" was all he said for the rest of the trip. The silence was awkward but it beat anything we would talk about.
