Run

My names True Callern. I'm 16 years old. I live in a village called Arenathon. It's an old village, and i've lived here all my life, not that i've had any choice in that. But in the town centre, thats where the palace is. The prince lives here you see, and things are about to get..lets say different.

6. palace

We walked up the shiny marble steps, to the big white oak doors surrounded by officials. There was a table to the left of the doors, with an official sitting behind it. 'Names?' He said gruffly. He obviously didn't like his job. Not many officials do, even though they get better, upgraded houses, unlimited food and water access. But they also hardly ever get to use those luxuries seeing as they work all day and all night, even though they take shifts, theres not that many of them so you usually have to do at least 18 hours a day, carrying into the night. 'Sophianne Callern' My mother replied sweetly. 'True Callern' I mumbled, distracted by the beautiful palace. If this is what the outsides like, who knows how luxurious it is on the inside? I heard Kye tell the official his name, and we were allowed in. The huge doors swung open, revealing the interior of this magical building. I gasped as my eyes scanned the room. Glistening, diamond chandeliers scattered along the high ceiling. Deep red, rich velvet armchairs and sofas dotted around the biggest room i've ever seen in my entire life. A dark pine table, which looked twice as long as my own house, was coated in food. Trays and trays of vegetables, meats, soups, stews, pasta (which was virtually impossible to get hold of in Arenathon) and also rich, mouth-watering desserts were tempting me, with all kinds of different puddings, cheesecake, fruity buns and cakes, even a selection of ice-cream! I've only ever had ice-cream once, when father managed to get hold of a tiny little pot. The familiar memory made my mouth water as I wanted to just dive straight in. Then I remembered I was at the prince's palace, and I was 'to behave like a lady' As my mother had instructed me. There wasn't many people here, about 50 at the most, standing around, talking, drinking. An official came over to us, and offered us a drink. I took a glass and took a sip. I wasn't sure what it was but it was nice, so I carried on sipping. Suddenly, I heard the sound of a very loud trumpet fill the room, and catch everyones attention. 'The arrival of the Royal Prince Samuel' An official bellowed out. I was quite excited, because i'd never seen the prince in real life. I'd seen him on posters and on big screens when he's done announcements but never this close. He came slowly walking down the stairs, smiling at us, waving his hand at people. Everyone was cheering and shouting but I was silent. I was transfixed. He was gorgeous. Caramel coloured hair, with darker and lighter bits hidden within it. It was wavy and a bit messy, you could see where someone had tried to make it tidy but he'd just ruffled it back himself. Slightly tanned, perfect skin. You couldn't miss his bright blue, big eyes. His smile was perfect, showing off his pearly white teeth. I couldn't quite take it all in. Thats when I fainted.
