Minor Complications (Part 1)

Instead of going to parties, 17 year old Emma would prefer to stay home and watch television, even though her best friend Tiffany begs her to leave the house once in a while. One night at a party, Tiffany meets the members of One Direction, and falls head over heels for Liam. Unfortunately, so does Emma. They become close friends with Zayn, Harrry, and Louis, who try to stay out of the drama. And then there is Niall, who constantly fights for Emma's attention. Complicated. This is part of my Complications trilogy.

This is a story for the One Direction contest. :)
It used to be called Little Complications, but when I decided to make it a trilogy I had to change the name.

5. Bowling Night

*Liam's Point Of View*

Me and the boys wait at the bowling alley for five minutes before Tiffany and Emma arrive. Niall's face lights up when he sees Emma. I smile at Tiffany, she looks gorgeous tonight. Her long blonde hair curled, her face natural, with little makeup. She was wearing shorts and a plain black t-shirt. They both already have bowling shoes on.

"Liam!" Tiffany says happily, as she wraps her arms around me and pulls me in for a hug. She was so warm and smelled faintly of lavender. I liked it.

"Hey." I said back. "Hey Emma." I smiled. She smiled back, seeming distant.

"Hey, Em." Niall said smiling widely at her.

"Hi Niall!" she said happily.

Niall was crazy. Of course she liked him. Harry, Louis, and Zayn came over and greeted them as well, and we set up our games. It was me, Tiffany, Harry, and Zayn in one lane, and Emma, Niall, and Louis in the other. I knew Louis would make things pretty awkward between Emma and Niall, and I was kind of looking forward to it. Louis was hilarious at that kind of stuff.

Tiffany rolled first in our lane and completely missed both times. She just laughed it off. Harry and Zayn both went after and both got pretty decent scores. I went last and was actually pretty nervous because I wanted to impress Tiffany. I breathed out right before I let go of the ball. I watched as it rolled speedily, straight down the lane and knocked over all the pins. I can't believe that worked.

"Wow!" everyone shouted.

"Oh my God, Liam!" Tiffany said, "Can you help me bowl like that? I clearly need the help." she laughed.

I smiled. It was pretty cheesy but, hey it brought me closer to her. She got her ball and I told her where to stand. I stood behind her to help her bring back the ball. I put my hand on hers and we both held the ball. We pushed it forward, giving it double the force. It spun to the side and managed to knock over one pin. Tiffany jumped up and down excitedly.

"Why are you happy? We knocked over one pin!" I asked her raising my eyebrows.

"I know! But it was one better than I did last time!" I couldn't help but laugh.

I helped her set up again for her second roll and we knocked down two more pins. She cheered again and hugged me. I heard a whistle coming from the next lane over.

"Wow Liam! You helped her knock over three pins! Now Emma, can you help Niall do that?" Louis shouted. I laughed as Niall blushed and I looked up on the screen at their scores. Emma was beating both of them by a lot. Niall was losing. Badly.

As I turned back to our game, I heard Louis continue. "Just stand behind him and lead him into bowling a perfect score, just like Liam did for Tiffany." He said, mockingly. Emma laughed.

An hour later, we were all walking to the front of the alley. Tiffany and I were walking slower than the everyone else.

"I had a really fun time tonight, Liam." said Tiffany.

"Good. So did I."

"You really contributed in helping me win." she said sarcastically, and I laughed. Harry ended up winning our game, I came second, Zayn third, and Tiffany last.

There was a silence, and I finally worked up the courage to ask her, "So I was wondering if we could hang out again, maybe? Just us?"

She smiled, "How about tomorrow?"

"I would like that."

"Tiffany," Emma called, "Are you sleeping over tonight?"

"Yeah, I'll be right there!" Tiffany called back. She turned to me, "Text me when you figure out what you want to do."

"I will." I smiled. She smiled back and turned away to walk towards Emma.

I don't know what it is that I like about her so much. Usually, I like darker haired girls who are shy. Tiffany is clearly none of those things. She was different than usual. She was special.
