Unexpected

It was just another normal school year for Thalia Lux. Classes, detention, longer classes, even longer detention. Nothing seemed to get any better no matter what her parents did. The more they pushed her to get better the more she took it out on other people. To make matters worse, Thalia's best friend, Katie, is battling cancer. When she gets the word that Katie has taken a turn for the worst, she ultimately feels like giving up. Will anything get better? And why does she get the funny feeling that she's being watched when she walks home from school?

4. So Far So Good...I Thought ~Thalia~

It was my all time record. I had survived two whole weeks of school and hadn't got a single detention. After that day in the garden Louis and I had spent almost all of our spare time together. It turns out we have a lot in common. Yet I can tell he`s hiding something. Whenever I asked him about his music he seemed to close up and avoid my questions like he was afraid of saying something wrong. Which he seems totally immune to, unlike me, saying the wrong thing is my motto.

As I sat on my bed telling my best friend, Katie, about the past couple of weeks I couldn't help but wonder if Louis and I could ever be more than just friends. But how could we possibly if he doesn't tell me the truth? When there are longer pauses between Katie`s sentences I get concerned. Katie is a very chatty person, it`s in her nature. I listen closely and hear some labored breathing.

"Katie, are you ok?" I ask.

   "Ya...Tallie...don`t worry....just a little....short......." She didn`t finish the sentence before I heard a gasp and a crash of a vase.

"Katie? Katie! Katie what`s wrong!" I screamed into the phone.

   "Tallie........help..............." Katie whispered.

   .................the line went dead
