Unexpected

It was just another normal school year for Thalia Lux. Classes, detention, longer classes, even longer detention. Nothing seemed to get any better no matter what her parents did. The more they pushed her to get better the more she took it out on other people. To make matters worse, Thalia's best friend, Katie, is battling cancer. When she gets the word that Katie has taken a turn for the worst, she ultimately feels like giving up. Will anything get better? And why does she get the funny feeling that she's being watched when she walks home from school?

5. Gone ~Louis~

Thalia wasn't at school on Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday. By Thursday I was worried. She wasn't answering my calls, my texts went unread, and after suffering through three whole lunch periods with the trio I was longing for an intelligent conversation. It was obvious the none of the teachers had been informed that Thalia would be absent. Maybe she was ditching, maybe she was sick, maybe my attempts at keeping her out of trouble were in vain and the trio embarrassed so much she didn't want to come to school. Whatever the reason I was worried.

So that day during lunch I walked 2 blocks, turned down Queen St, and hesitantly knocked on the door four houses from the variety store. A few second passed and a petite woman, in an ankle length skirt, slowing opened the door.

"Can I help you?" The lady asked.

"I'm looing for Thalia Lux? Would she be home?" I asked

The lady, presumably Thalia's mother, looked him up and down quizzically, "Shouldn't you be in school young man? Do your parents know your here?" She questioned.

"Yes and no, yes I should be at school and no, my parents don't know I'm here. But I was worried about Thalia because she hasn't been at school. Please tell me; Is she here?" I confessed.

"No she's not, she's at the hospital seeing her friend. She's been there for days and I can't convince Thalia to leave. I'm on my way there, You can come with me." She offered with a slight smile.

"Thank you very much, I would love to." I exclaimed as we got in the car.
