Trine are going to London with one of her best friends - Jessica. They are going to a concert the night they arrive - A One Direction Concert. The hotel is great - and so is everything else. But what will happen when one gets on the wrong floor - one passes out - and new friends get together? One'll get ill and have a pretty bad scare. Some will maybe fall in love. Promises are made and promises are broken.
Moving on is hard - facing the past is harder, and to say goodbye is the hardest.

22. Chapter 22

When we, to my disappointment, arrived on their floor, Louis pretended to breath very heavily, to point out that I was heavy. "I told you, you douche." I said, as he began to walk down the hallway, still with me over his shoulder. He began to chuckle, "I'm only teasing, babe. You're not heavy at all. I'm sure I could've done that with Haz on my other shoulder too." "Playing the hero now, are we?" I teased, but with that he only began to walk faster down the hallway, because he knew that I then would have to face Niall faster. "Can you please put me down now, Lou?" "Don't put her down before we are in the room, Lou." Harry chuckled. I crossed my arms, "I hate you two!"  I stated. "But deep down inside you love me." Louis said, while he tried to hold a laugh back. "Hey! What about me?" Harry said, sounding fake - disappointed. "Oh, you too Harold." Lou said, but couldn't hold the laughter back anymore. I just stayed silent, annoyed that they had woke me up at 4 am, just because Liam had to talk to me.
Harry walked in front of us, and lead us through a door, revealing Zayn, Liam and Niall sitting in there, with very serious looks on their faces. Louis put me down, and gestured me to sit in his lap, because of the lacking space on the two small sofas. I could feel everyone's eyes on me, as I sat on Louis' lap, so I decided to ask what was going on. "What is so important, that all of you has to be here?" I asked, meaning that I could've survived if Niall wasn't in the room. But unfortunately they didn't get it, and Niall stayed seated.  But no one answered. "Come on, tell me." I said, looking from Zayn to Liam to Harry and so on. "The hospital called." Liam said. "About what? Has someone in my family died, in Jessica's?" I asked, raising my voice a bit. "No." Zayn said, without saying anymore. "The thing is..." Liam started. "You lied." Niall finish. The rest of the boys and I looked at him surprised. I didn't expect him to say anything, and obviously neither had the boys - but I had lied? About what? "Lied about what?" I asked. "Stop." Liam started, and looked at Niall, like if they had made a deal about Niall not saying anything, "Trine, the hospital rung you, but you didn't take the call, so they called me, because it was me who took you to the hospital." "And?" "They said that you hadn't told them the truth about your medical history." I frowned, "What are you talking about?" Louis sighed, "Trine, when they asked you about tumors and cancer and so, you said that no one in your family had died from it, or had gotten the diagnose." "No one in my family has been diagnosed or died from cancer." I stated, saying the truth, "And what is it to me?" "They had to make a CT-scan to see if the fall had done anything, like a bleed in the brain or something like that, because you have reacted like you have, and still do." Liam said. "And, what you say isn't quite true." He finished. "What do you mean?" I asked, getting a bit anxious. "Your dad, Trine, he died, right?" Zayn asked - gosh that boy - he just asked like it wasn't a big deal. "Yeah...." I said, dragging it a bit.

The house phone had rung a couple of times during the day, but neither of the times had my mom got up to answer it, and neither had I. I had been in my room the most of the day, not wanting to be any trouble for my mom. It had been three days since my father had left us - without even saying goodbye - not even his "Take care, princess. I'll see you soon, okay?" Like he always said when he left for his business trips, which there had been a lot of in the past year. I sighed, heading down the stairs to see how my mom was. "Are you feeling better, mom?" I asked, as I stepped into the living room, where she was laying on the couch. She didn't answer. "Mom? How are you feeling today?" I asked, going down on my knees, to sit beside the couch. "Like yesterday, and the day before that, and any other day." She said, "And the phone has been ringing all day." And with that the phone began to ring again. "Will you please get it?" My mom asked. "Sure." I replied, as I got up to pick up the phone. "Hello?" "Is this the Hertzog family?" A manly voice said. "It sure is." "I'm just calling to ask you where Mr. Hertzog is? He didn't show up for his doctor's appointment today."  "Oh, well. We haven't heard from him the past couple of days actually. He left, so if you want to talk to him, you have to call his cell. Bye." I said and hung up. A doctor's appointment? What was wrong with him?
"Who was it?" I shrugged, "I didn't get his name, but he said that dad didn't show up for his doctor's appointment today." My mom froze as I mentioned the doctor's appointment. "He didn't show up?" She asked. "Nope, apparently not." I went a bit pale, "Is something wrong?" "No, everything's fine, hun, I'm sure." She said, and managed to give me a little smile, which she hadn't done in a while.
Hours later we were sitting at the dinner table eating in silence when there was a knock on the front door. "I'll get it." I said getting up. When I opened the door my mom quickly got in front of my, telling me that I should go back eating - and not wanting to question her, I did what I was told.
"I'm sorry for your loss." I heard one of the men outside the door say, and my mom sobbing. The door closed, and I went to see what was wrong - but something told me that I already knew. "What's wrong, mom?" "Your dad..." she said, but only for her to sob more. "He's dead isn't he?" I asked, with tears forming in my eyes. She started to sob louder, which was answer enough for me.
My dad had died in a car crash - and I was mad at him for doing so.

I sat with tears in my eyes, knowing that I couldn't hold them back much longer, "I'm still mad at him for leaving without saying goodbye." Louis was stroking my back, which just made the tears-thing even worse. "Trine...." Liam started, but sighed before he continued. "Did your mom tell you exactly what happened with your dad?" "Not quite, why?" He nodded a bit, before looking at the other boys, like seeking their acceptance to tell me something - they all nodded. "What?" I asked. "Trine, your dad didn't die in a car crash." Liam said, "It's here the thing with your medical history comes in - or not yours, but your dad's. The thing with the cancer, the tumor." I could feel the tears beginning to fall down my cheeks. "The hospital were calling to get you down there again, because they found something." "S..Something W..what?" I asked and sniffled. "They want you  to go down there again, so they can check you with another purpose, now that they know what your dad died from. I started to cry harder - had my father cancer? Had I cancer? What was going on here? I had so many questions, but not a single answer. I was still sitting on Louis' lap - and he was still stroking my back, the only thing that had changed, was the position of the boys. they had all gathered around or on the couch that I, Louis and Harry were sitting on - except for Niall - he had left the room as soon as tears were starting to roll down my face. "What does this mean?" I asked - "What exactly did my father die from?" The boys looked at each other, before Louis answered; "He had a tumor on the brain, babe - I'm so sorry. We all are." I had just gotten a hold on myself, but now the tears streamed even faster down my face. "So, they want to test you, to see if that's what's wrong. There were a shadow on the CT-scan, but they aren't sure that it's a tumor, so I'll have to run some more test's." Liam said. I sniffled - I didn't have any tears left, that just told me, how much I actually had cried.
"What about Jessica?" I asked, "and what about me? We can't even afford staying here the two weeks I can't leave, and now, I maybe has to stay even longer?" I looked around in the room, sighed - exhausted from all the crying. "Don't worry about it. We have to spare rooms on the floor. You can just move up here for the amount of time that you need." Zayn said with a tiny smile. "No way. You guys can't just do that. You barely know us, and already you have helped me, us, so much. We would own you the rest of your lives." I said. not wanting to take their offer.  "Actually, I've already talked to Jessica about this - and she said exactly the same, but I convinced her." Harry said, sounding proud. "Maybe she can, but I can't. You guys know how I feel about Niall - he walked away when I needed him the most. And  it wasn't only him who overreacted at the hospital, I did too. But know when you know, that my father left, and never came back, because he died - that's why I can't handle people who leave that well. But people always leave." I said, looking at them. "We won't leave you." Zayn said, and the other agreed. "That's right. We'll stand by your side." Harry said. I smiled, "You guys are so sweet. But I still can't take your offer, about moving up here. Maybe Jessica can, but I can't. Due to that Niall will be on this floor." I sighed. "Why don't you go talk to Niall about this?" Liam asked, looking at me. What did he think? What did he want me to do? Go break my own heart again, if Niall turns me down, and don't even want to talk to me? Liam should've know better. But maybe it's due to what he told me? Liam had feelings for me. That was what he had to tell me in private - from the day he first saw me laying, unconscious, he told me. He told me that his heart would skip a beat every time he saw me - and how he had felt when I would go out with Niall, or I had laughed with Niall - he had wished that it was him I had went out with, him I had laughed with. But it wasn't. I liked Niall, not Liam. It had been Niall ever since the day I looked into his beautiful blue eyes - even though, I've always had a fondness for Liam's brown eyes.
