1. The Girl In The Mirror

Looking in the mirror,

This is what I see, The ghost of my past, Staring back at me.   Living in horror, Living in fear, No one to talk to, No one near.   Living in sadness, Desperate for help, Can anyone hear? Her cries and her yelps?   Kicking and screaming, Begging for love, Sometimes she wonders, If there’s a man above.   Looking in the mirror, This is what I see, The ghost of my present, Staring back at me.   Sometimes I have bad moments, A cry and a moan, But even though I may forget it, I’m never alone.   Good times and bad times, Happy and sad, Sometimes I think, We are all mad.   Hopes and dreams, Scatter in my heart, Sometimes I think, life, Is a work of art.   Like a drowning man out of water, Gasping for breath, My music helps me, My life is a treble clef.   Coping, just barely, With the madness in my life, My wound is healing slowly, Like a cut from a knife.   Looking in the mirror, This is what I see, My hopes and dreams for the future, Staring back at me.   Got a good job, A house and career, A husband and baby, And those I love near.   Always looking forward, Never looking back, In my house, I have a dog and a cat.   My wound is healed, Dusted and done, But a scar remains, That is not fun.   Looking in the mirror, This is what I see, The girl in the mirror, Staring back at me.
