8. The 'P' Word

-2 months later-

*Jas’s POV*

It turns out that I did know what I wanted to do now so I listened to my mums advice and applied as an international student at  the University of London doing a business management course. I wanted to open a little boutique either at home or here but I needed the knowledge and skills in the background so that’s why I chose the course.

I was still living with Harry and Louis.  It's like they never wanted me to leave.

"Hey Jas, I'll pick you up after uni alright, we're meeting up with Niall at Nandos for dinner" Harry said sitting on my bed. My lectures at the university were always late ones, so by the time I came out it was always time for dinner.

"sure" I smiled.

*Harry's POV*

I pulled up to one of the back gates of the university where Jas was sitting on the stairs typing away on her iPad. I'm guessing she had a big assignment coming up. I've never seen her stare at a screen so intensely.  As soon as she noticed the car she skipped down the stairs.

"About time Haz, I've been there for ages!" she said shaking the snow off her shoulder.

"Sorry, the traffic is terrible! It's like a small bit of snow and everyone becomes afraid to drive. Any way you hungry?"

"Starving! What time to we have to meet Niall?"

"7:30" it was 7pm now and it was a bit of a drive. It seemed like we would get there on time.  Jas continued talking about how her day was and I was right, she did have an assignment that was due next week. We pulled up infront of Nandos and found a carpark space instantly. Jas picked out the nearest booth and sat down.

"So how was your day Harry?" she asked.

I started to talk about my not so eventful day playing the Wii with Louis for most of the day. She laughed.

"I can’t believe how lazy you are!"

"Coming from you who called me on the phone asking me to get you water in the middle of the night! Mind you I was fast asleep!" we laughed together. She's amazing. My phone started to ring, it was Niall.

"Niall where are you man? We've been here for a while"

"Sorry Haz, I can't make it. Liam called me into the studio, we’ve got some recording to do. Hey what do you think if I play guitar on the next album?"

"That sounds like it's going to be amazing. Niall you're like a guitar genius, so go for it!"

"Thanks bud. Alright we'll I have to go, Liam's calling me now. See ya!"

"Do you want to get some food to take home? It's much warmer there? Niall's at the studio and won't be able to make it" I turned to Jas.

"yeah that's fine, I'll get the food, you start up the car. It's going to be cold." she said with a smile.

*Jas' POV*

We had just finished dinner and Harry was about to pick a movie for us to watch. The DVD player in the lounge room was playing up so we watched the movie in Harry's room.  I thought it was about time that he knew about why I got so jumpy around whenever he said pregnant. I trust him, but my only hope is that it doesn't ruin our friendship or he thinks differently of me.

"Harry" I said, fiddling with the pillow in my hands

"yeah babe"

"I owe you an explanation for the whole club incident"

"No you don’t Jas, I get it, if you want to tell me I'm cool with that. I respect your privacy."

"that's the thing Harry, I want to tell you now. I'm ready to tell you. At first I had to accept what happened and move on before I could let the whole world know." I took a deep breath in and sighed.

I knew this wasn't going to be easy but it had to be done. Harry grabbed my hand from beside me, he could see that this was going to be a different conversation to what we were used to.

"About a year ago, when I first met my boyfriend Caleb…" Whenever I said his name, Harry cringed. I knew he wasn't fond of him.

"we were one of those couples that were inseparable.  Hard to believe now considering I'm in London and he's in Australia right now but yeah, we wouldn't let each other out of our sight. A few months later we were still the same but our relationship kind of felt like it was in fast forward, everything was moving way too quickly. We were at his party, it was his 18th and I stayed the night. We both got so drunk that night it still is a bit of a blur."

I took another deep breath in.

"I remember waking up the next day in his bed, he was with me. We knew what had happened considering our clothes were scattered around his room but one thing we couldn't remember was whether we had used protection or not. I wanted our first time to be special but it turned out to be a drunken mess. We went to the pharmacy to get the morning after pill just in case but the lady was like sometimes 'this doesn't always work so just keep an eye out for any signs' which we did. We gave it a few days, a few weeks then it turned out to be a month and no signs. Give it another month and what do you know I was late. To make long story short, I was pregnant. My parents found out because I couldn't hide the fact that I was getting bigger so they kicked me out, almost disowning me. I became a disgrace to them."

My eyes were now stinging from the tears forming in my eyes. I looked at Harry, he was completely focused on me. He never let go of my hand but instead wrapped his arm around me.

"getting an abortion was too risky at the time, I also didn't want to go through that mental and emotional trauma so we decided that we were going to keep the baby. It reached 9 months and I was about to give birth to this baby. My mum realised that kicking me out made everything worse, so she told me to move back in. she had a complete change of heart even though she was still disappointed in me. .. There was a complication during the birth where there was only a chance of either me or the baby surviving. I kept saying choose the baby but between my mum and Caleb, I knew they wouldn't allow that to happen.  It was going to be a baby girl, I had already picked out a name for her; Emma. I was so scared but  excited at the same time. I wasn't ready to be a teenage mum but I had become attached to Emma. She was mine and I was going to do my best with or without Caleb to provide for her..."

*Harry's POV*

I couldn't believe what Jas was telling me. She was a complete wreck and I understood why she  got all hesitant whenever I said pregnant . How could a girl that sweet and outgoing endure all of that. One thing I knew for sure was that she was brave and she was much stronger than any of us knew. My respect for Jas grew knowing that she had to make one of the hardest decisions of her life. Jas couldn’t hold back her tears any longer. She cried onto my shoulder, but I wrapped my arms tighter around her and cuddled her.

"Shhhhh, it's ok Jas. You don't need to say any more." I kissed her on the forehead. "You are so strong you know that? If I could I'd bow down to you." I said trying to lighten the mood a bit.  I could her try to smile.

"I appreciate you telling me, no wait I appreciate that you trusted me enough to tell me. Jas I'm so sorry" I said.

Jas cuddled into me  as well as her sharp breaths turned to slow sobs.  Her eyes began to look heavy.

"It's ok Jas, close your eyes. I got you. Everything is going to be ok"

I noticed she had fell asleep in my arms. I didn't want to move her though, she look so peaceful as well as extremely tired. I pulled the blanket over us and closed my eyes as well not letting her go.
