5. The Hunt

I am walking slowly through the forest, in a completely different direction to Desdemona, as she's probably scared off all the prey with her heavy footing. My nose is lifted to the air, scenting out any prey that would be worth my time. Mouse, bird, snake... Aha! I think, just as the scent of deer catches my nose. I stalk towards the herd of deer, making sure I am silent. When I get close enough, I sprint into the area, and the deer begin to scatter.

My body goes into auto pilot as I run after an injured doe. Easy prey, I think as I easily trip the injured animal. It kicks helplessly as I bend over, biting down on it's windpipe with my strong canines, and I savour my victory, the blood dripping over my tongue.

As the doe dies, I remove my teeth, lick my maw, and begin to haul back my catch. When I arrive, I see Desdemona has caught a rabbit, and Adonis has a wild boar. The two of them look pretty happy with what they've caught until they see me haul in this catch. My mother looks impressed, as does my father. Dropping it infront of me, I glance at Desdemona as she stares at my kill. Suck it, I think as I grin smugly.

"We can see who caught the best prey..." My mother murmurs sweetly, not singling anyone out, but it's a little obvious. I smirk.

"Since you caught the prey," My mum continues, "You may now eat!"

As I sink my teeth into the doe, the meat is delicious and fresh, and the luke-warm blood gives it some flavour. To the human me, this would be disgusting, but as I wolf, I would never get enough. Finally full, I tell the others they can eat what is left of my kill, because, well, I'm full.

When our meals are finished, all three of us sit in front of our alphess.

"Follow me."
