19. Life And Blood

My dad glances at me, and I can see his anger grow just a little bit more. He's never heard me swear before, so now I'm screwed as well. When I glance up at Faolan, his gaze is still calm and collected, and he's not giving anything away to the untrained eye. I can feel his body tense against mine.

As soon as I think my dad is going to snap at Faolan, he turns to me. "You- inside!" He growls, his gaze narrowed, and his eyes glowing. I reluctantly pry my hand off of Faolan.

I make my steps slow, and graceful. Once again, my heart ached at the thought of leaving my other half, but I had to bare with it.

I open the door quietly, take one last glance at Faolan, and walk inside, closing the door behind me. I rush upstairs to change my outfit for my meeting with Dante. I can't believe it. After all that, I still remember Dante. I snicker. I disgust myself.

Once upstairs, I close my door and stare out my bedroom window. My dad and my mate are having a some sort of heated conversation. 'What are you fighting about?' I send him through thought.

Oh, I forgot to mention. Soulmates have a direct link to each other's minds, to they can see what the other is seeing, and hear their thoughts. They can also send thoughts.

'Not now, my Luna. You're distracting me.' He replied.

'I thought twenty year old men weren't normally distracted by women; oops, my bad~' I sent back, sarcasm dripping from each word.

'You know what- listen in, for all I care.' Faolan sent me, glancing up at my bedroom window for a split second before he turned his gaze back toward my dad. I did what I was told; listened in while I grabbed clothes.

"Three men have asked for the right to claim her- that's right, three- and I agreed to let one from my pack have her, and now her soulmate shows up? Well you know what; I don't trust you. Get the hell out of my daughter's life."

I growl; my dad was planning my future, without me agreeing. I could feel Faolan's anger, and I could also feel his incredible and enviable self control; something that I lacked.

"She is my soulmate, and I will not leave her. She hasn't pushed me away, and if she wanted me to leave, I would do so. But I will not listen to someone telling me to leave her without consulting her. Also, does she know you're planning her life? I'm sure she wouldn't like that."

I smiled at Faolan's persistence. But it wouldn't win my dad over.

"You, shut up! Just because you think you're worthy of her love-"

"I don't think, I know, Mr. De Lune."

"-then you are not worthy of my respect."

My dad is such a moron, I think snidely, pulling black leggings and a black sports bra out of my cubboard, and slipping them on.

The banter continues like this. Eventually, Faolan loses his cool.

"You are an old, controlling fool; you don't deserve a daughter with a free spirit, such as hers! Thank god your mate runs the pack- she must have more wits than you!"

My dad begins growling.

"And, did I forget to mention? Your daughter has been listening to the whole conversation, including how you plan to control her life!"

Faolan hits the nail on the head. My dad tenses up, and his face falls. He turns to look up at the bedroom window, which I'm currently glaring through, my ice blue eyes glowing brightly with controlled anger. My dad looks hurt and guilty, like his miraculous plan has failed. "I'm sorry, my darling." I read my dad's lips for that one, because I stopped listening when Faolan pointed me out. I pull my lips back in a silent snarl, and step away from the window.

I storm down the stairs, pull on my volleys again, and open the door. "Olathe-" My dad begins, but I cut him off.

"Don't Olathe me! You've been preparing me up like a pig for slaughter; used me as a chess piece in your game! So don't tell me you're 'sorry' unless you really mean it!" I growl. My dad winces. I freeze for a moment. Somehow I've gained more dominance, as I've found my true mate. Mum and dad aren't soulmates; just two wolves that stayed with each other because they fell in love. Just like me and Adonis would have been, if I hadn't met Dante and Faolan and turned my world on it's head.

I give a frustrated sigh, and storm off, using my werewolf speed to get to the place me and Dante were supposed to meet.

I'm panting heavily by the time I reach my destination. Looking around, it seems that Dante hasn't arrived yet, but I'm here late- He should be here.

I'm looking around for clue when my eyes lock on the only piece of evidence around.

The only thing that sets off alarm bells in my head.
