15. Escape

~*~

I'm warning you, this chapter ends with a cliffhanger!

~*~

Night comes surprisingly quickly, and I'm shaking with fear by the time someone picks me up off the cold, hard, concrete floor. The guy that was only about two years older than me begins pulling me through a corridor.

He then opens a door, and tosses me in, closing the door. "Change." He says, his voice muffled through the door. I come to my senses and look around the room, and I spy a white dress on the floor. Also, I spy a few windows large enough for me to get out of. But they're not strong enough for me to brake, I think regretfully. ... In human form!

I quickly whip off the clothes I'm wearing, and change.

The terror that overwhelmes me is unexplainable. I back into a corner, tail between my legs. Danger. Humans. Danger. Stuck. Caged. Danger. I keep telling myself it's even more dangerous if I don't get out. This knocks some sense into my traumatized mind and I grab my clothes with lightning speed, and rush at the window, bursting through.

The thick glass falls to the ground as I make a run for it, my wolf form streaking across an open field, and straight into a forest.

I changed back about a mile into the forest, far from Taylor, far from that hell house. I'm walking down a small path that seems reasonably clear of trees, nursing the small cuts I got from jumping through a window. I expected that.

But I won't expect this.

A metre-tall male grey wolf stands in front of me, his snarling face dripping with saliva. Another werewolf. I think almost instantly, and growl my response. My growl resonates deeper in my throat than this wolf's, even in my human body, easily depicting my high status.

The grey wolf freezes, then stops snarling. He shifts into a human form, clothes replacing his fur. The old man dips his head, then says softly, "Follow me."

I wasn't expecting what would happen next.
