3. Running

Peeking through my parents bedroom room door, I was speechless with shock. Laying at the end of my mums motionless body, was a baby. Pink and wet, it lay there, crying, in a pool of blood. Iran forward and gently picked it up, cradling it in my arms. Gazing down at my new sibling, I could feel my stomach flip. Sapphire eyes.

A faint sound startled me. I whipped round to face the noise, a vase fell to floor, shattering in to a million pieces. I cursed and scrambled around, trying to hide it.

"What was that?" croaked a rusty voice.

"Go look, you useless brick!" squeaked another voice. Guivers. I froze, not daring to breath. Suddenly, a custard yellow, bloodshot eye appeared behide the door.

"Hello princess", it croaked.

I sprinted out the French doors in to the courtyard, leaving muffled shouts in my wake. Running across the grass with a backpack and my brother wasn't easy. I glanced back at the castle, with the sudden realization that I would never see it again. Sadness tugged at my heart as I was engulfed by the black forest. I plundered, blind in the darkness of the forest. A small speck of moon loomed out of the darkness towards me and I ran towards it. It lead me to in a small clearing.  Upon entrance, I felt a strange presence over me and my brother, but I shook it of with a second thought. It didn't take me that long to reach the other side of the clearing.

Suddenly, a fire blazed up in-front of me, blocking my exit. I gasped in shock. Spinning round, I watched in dismay as the fire sprang up all around the clearing. Slowly, it began advancing inward until there was less than a fingers length between me and it. Over the crackling of the inferno, I could make out the infuriated shouts of Guiver to 'get after the damn girl'. Looking round frantically for an escape route, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my lower back. A hard band of pain wrapped itself around my head asI hit the floor and twisted around to see her back. A sliver arrow was embedded in my back, dripping with poison. I looked around, my eyes falling on  Guiver, head held high as he lowed his bow. Damn it. There was nothing I could as the world turned to darkness around me, leaving me alone.
