Face the Music

Julia is your typical sixteen year old girl. She lives with her mother and her little sister Marty, she has her insecurities, she has her boy issues, and oh yeah, her love for the British/Irish boy-band One Direction. When her seventeenth birthday arrives, everything seems perfect....until it all fell apart piece by piece. But to every rainy day there is always a rainbow, what will happen when she unexpectedly 'falls hard' for not one, but two of the boys in One Direction? And what would happen if they both like her back? Would rivalry break everyone apart? Or will the fandom get to them first? Just as life is, every situation has two faces. One is an amazing benefit, and the other could lead to sacrifice...

13. Facing Competition- Close Encounter

Julia's POV

With the boys scattered around the house, I finally had some private time. I sat on the sofa and opened up my mom's embarassing text to answer her.

Hey mom. Yeah I'm at home. It's been a long day and I just wanted to rest. I won't be going to Florida with you guys. Hope you have fun though! <3 - Julie :)

I just hit send when I heard a voice behind me. "What are you doing?" I looked up to see Niall behind the sofa standing so that his face was basically hovering above mine. "Just replied my mom's text. Nothing much." My neck started to hurt, so I patted the spot next to me indicating that he could sit. "Back in the bus, I was going to ask you something but a flat tire got in the way." I turned to face him crossing my legs. Not too polite because I was still in my dress from this morning. But I made sure that the dress completely covered my knees. "After all this happens, we're all going to go back to what we did before. But spending these hours with you has been the most fun I've had for the longest time." I blushed. "Thanks. I had a lot of fun spending time with you guys too." "I would hate to stop all our conversations at once so-" "Hey Julie? Can I have your number and twitter name so we can keep in touch even after all this?" Harry jumped onto the space beside me on the sofa. "Sure." I scribbled my cell phone number and twitter name onto a piece of paper Harry handed me. "Thanks." He said as he kissed me on the cheek and ran after Louis, Liam, and Zayn who were going upstairs. I faced Niall again who looked a little taken back. "I'm guessing you wanted my phone number and twitter name too?" I clicked my pen and tilted my head. "Only if you want. I can see that you're already busy with someone else..." his voice trailed off. "You mean Harry? Niall!" I wailed when I said his name. "You're overthinking this whole thing! Nothing happened between us! We're just friends!" In my head, it all sounded believable, but when I said it out loud, I choked on the words 'just friends' a little. But I wasn't lying! Nothing did happen! Maybe it would have if Niall didn't interrupt us...But nevertheless Harry and I were just friends. "Alright then!" he said sounding cheery already. He took down my phone number and twitter name. All of a sudden Louis ran down the stairs, jumping off at the last four steps. He snatched Nialls phone and said, "Ah 'Julia Martise'" he quoted. "I'll change it to what Niall's probably thinking." After typing something, he handed the phone back to Niall and told him to run. "Let me see that." I tried to get the phone but my work was futile. Now Niall got up off the sofa and stood up with his hand raised as high as he could with the phone in his hand. I tried jumping to get the phone but I was too short. I was like 5''3 and he was 5''8. "Niall! Let me see what Louis wrote!" I clung on to him, hoping to use him as support as I jumped, but that made him step back. Little did he know, there was an ottoman behind him. He fell backwards, sending me falling on top of him. There we were, lying on the floor with Niall under me. We laughed and I took the phone which had fallen on the carpet beside us. "Hot Babe?" I asked in disbelief. "Hey! Don't put your anger on me. Lou wrote it!" He said putting his hands up in defense. We just laid there on top of each other, neither of us getting up. I looked into Niall's eyes. He was even more adorable up close. Wait no. I couldn't like Niall. I liked Harry. Didn't I? I was confused. Suddenly, I saw Harry staring at us from the stairs.
