Face the Music

Julia is your typical sixteen year old girl. She lives with her mother and her little sister Marty, she has her insecurities, she has her boy issues, and oh yeah, her love for the British/Irish boy-band One Direction. When her seventeenth birthday arrives, everything seems perfect....until it all fell apart piece by piece. But to every rainy day there is always a rainbow, what will happen when she unexpectedly 'falls hard' for not one, but two of the boys in One Direction? And what would happen if they both like her back? Would rivalry break everyone apart? Or will the fandom get to them first? Just as life is, every situation has two faces. One is an amazing benefit, and the other could lead to sacrifice...

38. Face Save You Tonight

Zayn's POV

I got to the Starbucks with twenty minutes to spare. I ordered a cup of coffee and sat at an empty table near the back of the store that had a clear path to the door. I didn't expect Julie to come early, so I casually looked out the window and sipped my drink, embracing the calm Toronto scene, at least it was there. I had purposely worn an oversized dark blue hoodie so I wouldn't have to worry about fans asking for pictures and autographs. Afterall, Julie seemed quite stressed in her text. I didn't want her to be interrupted in our conversation. Suddenly, I heard the door open and the bell ringing at the top of the door; catching my attention. Standing at the door, was Julie. But she looked like she was hyperventilating and crying at the same time. "Oh my god. Are you alright?" I ran over to her and gave her a hug as I led her to the table. We had caught the views of a couple people in the shop, but they didn't think much of it as they went back to their work. I ordered her a cup of tea and placed it in front of her.

She quickly took a sip and her energy seemed regained; but she still looked flustered and a little shakey too to be honest. "What happened?!" "I-I-I had a dream..." I gave out a sigh of relief. "Oh Julie! You know you scared me to death! It was just a dream..." "NO! You don't understand. It seemed so real. Like it was connected to what I was doing before.." "What was it about?"

Julia's POV

I told Zayn my entire dream just as it happened, and showed him the text I received before. "I'm sorry. Some of our fans....can be quite passionate." I shook my head. "I don't mind most hate. But this. This is just..." I couldn't complete my sentence. "I'm glad you called me out to talk about this. I'd hate to see you handle this alone." "What do you think my dream meant?" I asked him sipping the tea. "To me, and don't hate me for saying this; it shows how much you still love and care about Harry." I looked at him in silence for a while. "I can't deny it." I finally said quietly. "And you should tell him about it. Show him the text too." I looked uneasily at the table. "But he doesn't want to talk to me." I mumbled. "How do you know if you've never even tried?"

Zayn was right. So we took our drinks and went to his car in the parking lot outside. I got in the passenger seat of his car and put on my seatbelt. "Back to the hotel again." I sighed as he got in. "You make it seem like you don't want to see us." He laughed slightly. "Well after what just happened. I don't know if I do."

I looked at the clock in the car. Somehow, it was already 7pm. "Time flies huh?" Zayn said keeping his eyes on the road, yet noticing that I had glanced at the clock. "I didn't want it to fly like this though." My mind replayed the breakup, the text, and the dream.

"We're here." Zayn called to me quietly, trying not to break me from my thoughts. We were parked on the opposite side of the street that faced the hotel door. I looked at the massive hotel. "Here we go again." I took a deep breath. It was then that I noticed a tall crane and a truck loaded with several large new windows parked near the front door. "What's going on?" I asked as Zayn came out of the car and stood beside me. "Rennovations on the nineth floor. We got a letter notifying us about the possible noise throughout the day." I was still looking at the massive construction going on with the window replacement when I saw two teenage boys walking from inside the hotel towards us, one was wearing stripes and the other, a purple hoodie with words I couldn't see from the distance. I squinted my eyes. Jack...Wi...something. I quickly recognized them. It was Harry and Louis. I stood still. Unsure if I should approach them considering that they might have a cold-shoulder attitude towards me. Harry put his hand on the revolving door and stepped out onto the sidewalk looking around the street in the rather dark night. Louis was still inside the lobby talking on his cell phone. Probably to Eleanor, telling by the smile he had on his face. Sigh, I missed having someone I loved make me smile like that.

"Easy...easy.." I looked to see the two men in construction vests and hard hats using the crane to lift the new window into the window frame on the nineth floor. As I was just about to walk to the hotel door, I heard voices with changed emotions around me. The voices went from calmness to chaotic panic... "Joe...Joe...JOE! THE WINDOW'S SLIPPING!" I watched as the glass window fell out of the straps the crane was carrying it by, and it fell down....down...down....gaining speed as it fell....RIGHT ABOVE HARRY!!

Harry was just casually talking on the phone, clearly oblivious to what was happening, and to the many people including the construction workers in the tall crane screaming at him to move. Without even thinking, I ran to Harry across the street at lightning speed pushing him out of the way at the last minute when he realized his fate. As I pushed him away with all my might, I put my hands over my head as the heavy glass window instantly, less than a second after I had pushed Harry away, smashed on my head. Pain and darkness collided in my mind fighting for dominance. I felt myself hit the cold sidewalk. And that, was it.
