Face the Music

Julia is your typical sixteen year old girl. She lives with her mother and her little sister Marty, she has her insecurities, she has her boy issues, and oh yeah, her love for the British/Irish boy-band One Direction. When her seventeenth birthday arrives, everything seems perfect....until it all fell apart piece by piece. But to every rainy day there is always a rainbow, what will happen when she unexpectedly 'falls hard' for not one, but two of the boys in One Direction? And what would happen if they both like her back? Would rivalry break everyone apart? Or will the fandom get to them first? Just as life is, every situation has two faces. One is an amazing benefit, and the other could lead to sacrifice...

45. Face Delay

Julia's POV

"Julie!" Marty ran to me and wrapped her arms around my waist as soon as she stepped in the house with her luggage behind her. "Woah, two questions. Aren't you guys coming home tomorrow? And are you this happy to see me because you missed me, or you want something from me?" I giggled as Marty stepped back. "You're all she's been talking about since we left the house two weeks ago, she actually asked us to leave Disney World early for you. Looks like she finally looks up to her big sister." My mom joked. "Mom no. Fellow Directioner...and DID YOU OR DID YOU GET LOUIS AND ZAYN'S SIGNATURES FOR ME?" Marty asked jumping up and down. "Well since you gave me the same option twice, I have to say....I did!" I pulled out a bookmark with all the boys signatures on it from my purse. Zayn even wrote a personalized message for her. It took her about ten seconds to go crazy and fangirl over it.

"I see the house is clean...you must have spent most of the weeks out with the boys-" My mom commented as she inspected the area. "WHAT? After getting hit in the head with the door, you've been spending time with them too?! MOM WHY DID WE HAVE TO LEAVE!" I looked questionably at my mom. "You never told her?"

She sighed. "If I did, this is what she would have been doing the entire trip long." She pointed at Marty who was trying to climb up the stairs using the opposite side of the railing. I quickly ran to her and pulled her off before she fell. "No sugar for you!" I said trying to calm her down. She pouted and crossed her arms still trying to fight the urge to scream. "My sister knows One Direction, my sister knows One Direction.." Marty babbled waddling around the place.

"JULIANNE MARTISE! COME HERE RIGHT NOW!" I heard my Mom's voice echo through the house. I was confused, what did I do now- OH FUCK. I ran to the kitchen and started rambling on. "In my defense I forgot because I was in the hospital and- wait she's alive." I gave out a sight of relief as I watched Darcy frolick around the kitchen playing with a toy mouse. I had forgotten to feed her for almost a week, as I was in the hospital. I was so glad that she had survived! Wait...how did she? My mom handed me a note. "It was stuck to Darcy's bowl." She eyed me for answers.

Hey Julie! I know you're in the hospital so I've been coming over to feed Darcy for the past week! You're welcome! ;)  -Skylar  Oh P.S- I was using the key you hide on the roof- IT WAS AN EMERGENCY! Need to go to meet Zayn at Starbucks now! Bye! :)

I smiled. Thank goodness I told Skylar where I put the emmergency key when I was younger, and thankfully she came! My mom coughed to get my attention. "Um...so you're probably wondering why I was in the hospital..." I started.

She shot me a sarcastic look. "That would be the obvious guess." Jeez, now I know who I got my sarcasm from. I took a deep breath and spoke as fast as I could hoping that she wouldn't hear much. "I went to the boys' hotel and saw Harry walking out of the revolving door looking at something on his phone. He didn't notice that construction workers were replacing an old window above him and it slipped out of the crane's grasp. It began to fall right above him, so I ran and pushed him out of the way; taking the blow from the window instead." I looked at her and my sister. They stood there frozen, jaw dropped and eyes bulging. "And before you say anything mom, I saved a person's life! So isn't that all that matters here?"

She finally snapped out of it. "Young lady I'm proud of you, but I can't believe this! Are you ok? Are you hurt anywhere? Are you in pain or-" "Mom! I'm fine, this was like two weeks ago. I already spent one week in the hospital...which is why I couldn't feed Darcy." "All that....and you're fine in ONE WEEK?" Marty shouted at me increduously. I smiled at her instead of answering. "Julia, four words. NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!" My mom said seriously to me.

"I got it mom." I called as I walked out and plopped myself down on the couch in the living room. She had headed upstairs to unpack her suitcase and carry-on. Marty sat beside me as I flipped through the channels. "So...where are the boys now?" She asked swinging her legs back and forth. "Um..actually the boys are-"

*Ding, Dong*

"I'll get it sis." Marty said cheerfully as she went to open the door. As soon as she opened the door wide, she stood still. Not saying a single word, hardly even breathing. "Marty, who's there?" I asked her getting up to see for myself. I expected an advertiser, selling pizza's or something, but instead I faced a tall boy with dark brown hair....and suspenders.

"Oh hey Lou!" I said as I gave him a quick hug. Marty still stood there stiff as a board. "Hey Julie, and this is?" He knelt down to look at Marty in the eyes. She didn't even blink. "Marty, my little sister." "Oh so this is the beautiful young lady I signed the bookmark for." She blushed slightly at his words.

"Come in. Why did you come here anyways?" I asked leading him to a sofa. "Well, one major reason, Harry left." I froze in my tracks. "What do you mean he left? He said he was leaving tomorrow!" I said louder than I intended to. "Yeah I know! But I think he thought that we didn't want to talk to him or something so he packed EVERYTHING and left." "This is my fault." I said flatly. "No...I think it was all of our faults." "Yeah but-" I noticed Marty looking at us completely baffled. "What?" She finally said.

"Nothing. Here, watch some TV." I replied handing her the remote. She shrugged and seated herself comfortably on Louis' lap to watch cartoons.

"What do we do?" I whispered to Louis trying not to arouse so much of Marty's attention. "I don't know, I think we should-" "Julie? Who was at the door?" My mom walked down the stairs holding a basket of laundry...my laundry, with my hot pink bra on top. I bolted off the couch grabbing basket and literally throwing it into the laundry room hoping that Louis did not just see that. Sadly, I know he did as I was welcomed back into the room with his snicker. I mentally face palmed myself on making the laundry issue twenty times more obvious than it needed to be. "Oh hello." My mom said smiling pleasantly at Louis. "Hi, you must be Mrs. Martise. Nice to meet you." He said extending his hand to shake hers. "Aren't you polite?" She grinned accepting the shake.

"MOM! Trying to have a conversation here." I gestured towards the other room, but not in a completely rude way.

"Kiss up." I joked to Louis as soon as my Mom was in the laundry room. "Like you wouldn't if you met my parents." "Uh, yeah...I wouldn't! That's El's job." I teased him. He merely pouted...actually a lot like Marty did earlier.

'Breaking news' The television sounded loudly. "Marty why aren't you watching cartoons?" I asked. Last time I checked, my sister wasn't the kind to keep up with the daily happenings around the world. "I am, a new cartoon show is coming on after this news segment. I wish I had a fast forward button..."

'Today on breaking news, first we have an update on the riot occuring....' I blocked out the sound. I was not in the mood to hear anymore 'breaking news' after the news of Harry leaving...basically gone by now. I felt too responsible for it.

'...Also, we have a report on air flight cancellations and delays for at least half an hour, due to the massive humid downfall in temperatures that are unsafe to take flight in. The cancellations include flight number VC1332 to Vancouver, HL7480 to Hong Kong, KL8923 to California, and LB8927 to Hawaii. The delays include all flights to Calgary, Portugal, and Ottawa. That concludes the breaking news segment. My name is Marissa Grimshaw, back to Alex for the weather.'

My heart sank. I knew it was too good to be true, Harry was really gone now, for who knows how long.

'Wait! This just in, another flight has been grounded. Flight CK3897 to.....the UK. Sorry to interrupt Alex...'

"WHY ARE THE CARTOONS NOT ON YET?" Marty complained bouncing up and down on Louis' knee now. But Louis and i couldn't care less. We just stared in shock at each other.

"He's not gone..." I said not believing the words coming out of my own mouth. "We have a chance." "But half an hour?" He said scratching his head. "It takes twenty minutes to just get to the airport from here. And that's with no traffic!"

"So we should hurry! We can make it!" I picked Marty up off of Louis and pushed him to the door screaming to my mom on our way out, as loud as I could, "MOM WE'LL BE BACK LATER!" "No need to scream, I'm just next door! But alright. Have fun you two!"

I rolled my eyes, she did know we weren't dating right? That didn't matter, I'd set things straight when I got back. More important things were on my mind at that moment. I grabbed my purse and put on my pair of converse rushing out to Louis' car. I had to catch that plane before it was too late....
