Dragon Scales

The name's Bella, Bella Grande. I'm a dragon rider. Well I was until the terrible day when my dragon, Fireseeker was taken away from me to be trained for the mighty war of our nation. My father lost his life trying to save Fireseeker. Now I will avenge him. I will kill the gorgeous boy who killed him.

18. Epilogue

The woman walked in to the bookshop with confidence, she had a look of determination on her face. She took one look at me and then flashed back to the large desk in the middle of the library. She didn't speak a word. She was at least thirty and looked like she kept herself to herself. She had flowing brown hair and a pale face. Her eyes were blue like the sea but deadly like a dragon. She wore a man's robe yet it was clear from her figure she was a woman. The thing that intrigued me the most was her strange necklace. It was jade green and it was almost an uneven circle. It was a bit charred. Then I realised it, she was wearing a dragon scale around her neck. I was fascinated.

She sat down on one of our chairs and looked among our many bookshelves. Her face lit up as she found a book. It was a worn, leather bound old book. She layed it on the table, read it and then left. I opened my mouth to tell her to put her book back, but no words came out. I ran over to the book she was reading and looked at the page she had been reading, the page she had been reading was mostly illegible. But the only part I could read said...

Dragons Death

When a dragon dies its skeleton and muscles immediately disintegrate, leaving behind the scales.

Underneath was a note that she had clearly written before she left. I hadn't seen her write this, but the ink was still wet. The note read...

I apologise for the vandalism of this fine book, but I couldn't help noticing you staring at me. I do not mind, but let me tell you something. Do not let anything ruin your life.

I lost my Father, Best Friend, my Love and my Mother in a war.

But I picked myself up and carried on.

The scale that I wear was my dragon's, he sacrificed himself for me to love.

I wear it to show him that I care.

I wander through town and town, reading the same book in every library. I leave a note similar to this every time. You may call me 'The Lone Wanderer'.

But I will never be as hurt as I was the day I lost everything, especially Fireseeker.

Which is why I wear this Dragon Scale.
