Picture Perfect

It all started with a job. Chloe Miller had a job. As a photographer. In London. For the hit t.v. show XFactor. She never new that the five boys she became best friends with would end up being the most popular boy band in the world. She never knew that they would would break their promise either. Or her heart.

3. First Day on the Job

I was up early the next morning. I wanted to make a good first impression and look nice. It was the beginning of September and it was freezing in London so I decided to wear skinny jeans, a nice pair of boots and a long sleeved, plain, blue shirt. I straightened my hair and applied my make up. Not too much though- I never wore a lot of makeup.

Mark was in the kitchen making coffee and french toast for us. Jade was still sleeping since her first class wasnt until later in the day. I ate my breakfast, brushed my teeth than got my nice professional camera and put it in my bag along with my papers, phone and I.D. I put on my black peacoat and grabbed my coffee off the table.

"Ready to go then, love?" Mark asked. I nodded and we headed out the door.

The 30 minute car ride wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. Mark and I talked about our jobs and our family the whole time and it helped get over my nerves. When we pulled up in front of the studio, Mark wished me good luck and told me to relax. I thanked him, said goodbye and tried to do what he said. I walked through the front doors of the studio, only to be stopped by security.

"Can I help you, ma'am?" The tall, muscular man asked in a deep voice. He had a heavy British accent and I could barely understand what he was saying.

"Um I-I'm the new photographer for the show," I stuttered, showing him my I.D.

He observed it, grunted and then let me through. I walked through the big double doors behind him and ended up in a big room full of people running around and getting things ready. The studio was a perfect place for a photo shoot. All the walls were white and on the far side of the room a white back drop hung with cameras all around it. Racks of clothing lined the walls and people sat at vanities getting their hair and make up done for the photoshoot.

"Hey you! Girl with the Louis bag!" A womans voice called. I turned to see a middle aged woman hurrying towards me. Her black hair was pulled up into a tight bun and beady eyes sat behind a pair of horn rimmed glasses. "You're the new photographer right?"

"Um yeah...," I responded. Then I lifted my head and said more confidently, "Yes I am."

"Good, good now I understand you are very good at these things?" She asked looking down at her clip board.

"Photography? Yes I'm pretty good at it, that IS why I'm here right?" I answered back.

The woman glanced up at me over the rim of her glasses. "Aren't you a little young for this?"

"No," I said quicky.

She eyed me one more time and then called for a man who looked to be in his early 20s. "Danny, why dont you help out our new employee, she'll need it." And with that the woman hurried off.

Danny smiled a big smile at me he had brown hair with glinting green eyes. He wore a pink plaid sweater vest with dark jeans and gray Toms. "Daniel Hansen, 23, professional photographer. You can call me Danny. Nice to meet you!" He said in a high pitched voice, holding out his hand.

I shook it. "I'm Chloe Miller, 16, amateur photographer. Nice to meet you too!"

"16? I thought they said I was getting a college student...," he said scrunching his eyebrows at me.

"I am a college student, I skipped 9th grade," I replied.

"Ah, very good. Finally I met someone who understands me! I skipped grade 10 and attended college early too. And look we're both photographers!" Danny exclaimed. I smiled at him. "Good now I've seen some of your pictures and may I say that you have an incredible eye. Your angles, your concept- everything is perfect!"

"Aw thanks Danny, I'm sure you're better though," I said, blushing. He laughed.

"Now look, I like you Chloe so I'm gonna let you get into the action right away. Most newbies would have to sit and observe for hours before they got to take any pictures but I'm gonna let you take some pictures first," Danny explained. "You wont be using the main camera but you can take yours and take whatever pictures you like and at the end of the day, show them to me."

I nodded my head.

"Right so first up Cher! Cher love, you're up!" He shouted. A pretty girl that didnt look much older than me came in front of the white back drop. Her brown hair and make up looked amazing on her. "Cher Lloyd, she has an amazing voice and very pretty," Danny whispered to me.

And the photoshoot begun. Danny and I took tons of pictures. The contestants were all so different and even though I never met them or saw the show, I'm sure they all had amazing voices. It was a little over an hour into the photoshoot when the groups were up. The first group that came up was a boyband called One Direction. There were five boys, all around my age and all of them were, well hot.

"Cuties arent they," Danny whispered catching me by surprise. "They came in as individual acts and then were put together as a group by the judges."

"They are definitely cute," I admitted. And looked over at them to see the curly haired one whispering something to the blonde one and pointing at me. They both laughed when they saw me looking at them and the curl haired one gave me a cheeky smile and winked. I could feel myself blush.

When we started taking pictures of One Direction, I kept noticing the dark haired one looking over at me. He was the best looking of the five in my opinion. His black hair was done up into a quiff and he gave off a very quiet and mysterious look. I was upset when they were done and we moved on to the next group. By the time we finished all of the contestants it was 12:30 and we were given a lunch break. The contestants were told they could leave. I took my things and headed towards the lunchroom when I heard someone call my name. I turned around to see the five boys of One Direction coming towards me.

"Oh um, hi," I said nervously. "How do you know my name?"

"Danny told us. He said you were the new photographer," the curly haired boy responded. "I'm Harry by the way, Harry Styles." His curly brown hair was very poodle-like but he had the prettiest green-gray eyes.

"Louis Tomlinson, it's a pleasure to meet you," the boy with dark brown hair and beautiful blue eyes said, kissing my hand and grinning.

"Liam Payne, nice to meet you," the next boy introduced himself. He had long Justin Bieber-like hair with brown eyes and the cutest smile.

"I'm Niall Horan," the blonde one said. He also had pretty blue eyes and when he smiled his front teeth were crooked but he still looked adorable. I also noticed that his accent didn't sound British.

"You're not British are you?" I asked.

He let out a loud laugh. "Noo, I'm from Mullingar, I'm Irish."

I smiled at him and turned to the last boy, the dark haired, mysterious one.

"My name's Zayn, Zayn Malik," he said and I absolutely loved his accent. He smiled a little bit and then shoved his hands in his pockets.

"We thought we should introduce ourselves," Harry said. "Can we eat lunch with you?"

"Oh, yeah sure," I answered, surprised at the question.

We walked into the lunchroom. It was filled with people and round tables. In the back was the table with all of the food. We made our way towards it and when I got there I picked up a tray and started to pile food onto it. I grabbed a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, a bright red apple, a bag of potato chips, a big chocolate chip cookie and then a bottle of water.

"You must be hungry," Louis said, laughing a little bit. I went red in the face. Him and the rest of the boys had just taken a little bit of food so i must've looked like a pig. "It's alright, Niall is the same way." I looked at the blonde boy and noticed that he was the only other one that had just as much food on his plate, if not more.

"Hey, when you're hungry, you're hungry. Not much you can do about it except eat," he said. I laughed which caused him to laugh too.

We went to sit at an empty table. Harry and Niall sat on either side of me and directly across from me was Zayn so every time I looked up all I could see was him. I wasnt complaining about that. We began to eat our food in silence and it was pretty awkward until Liam decided to speak up.

"So Chloe, tell us about yourself," he said, taking a bite of an oatmeal raisin cookie.

"Well my name's Chloe Miller, I'm from America...New York City to be exact. I'm 16 and I'm a college student," I said.

"So that means you're like really smart then right?" Louis asked.

"You can say that," I laughed. At that all the boy looked over at Zayn and he looked down at his food quickly. "What about you guys?"

"Well I'm 19, I'm from Doncaster, I used to love acting, still do but its all about the music for me now," Louis begun.

"I'm 16, and I'm from a little town called Holmes Chapel. I used to work in a bakery," Harry said.

"I'm 17, I'm from Wolverhampton. I used to be a runner. I was even signed up for the 2012 Summer Olympics. Oh and I only have one kidney," Liam said and smiled that adorable smile.

"I'm from Bradford, I'm 17... not much to say about myself except that I have a pretty big family made up of mostly girls," Zayn explained, smiling.

"And well you already know where I'm from and I just turned 17 this month. I also play guitar," Niall mumbled through a mouth full of food.

"So you were just put together as a group? You didnt even know eachother before XFactor?" I asked.

"Nope, not at all," Liam answered, shaking his head.

"But we all get along really well and are practically best friends already," Louis pointed out cheerfully, slinging his arms around Harry and Zayn next to him.

I smiled. We spent the rest of the time eating and getting to know each other. There was something about these boys, something good but I didnt know what it was yet. When the lunchroom started clearing out, I said good bye to the boys and went to find Danny. He was sitting at a vanity looking through his camera with another woman. I guessed she was a publicist or something because she was telling Danny which pictures she was going to be using for whatever.

Danny must have heard me coming because he looked up and smiled at me.

"Ah Chloe, there you are. This is Jenni Bailey. She is like the publicist for the show almost. She picks which pictures, videos. advertisemts, etc are going to be released to the public and the media," he explained. "Jenni, this is the young photographer I was telling you about. Why don't you show her some of your pictures?"

I smiled at Jenni and she smiled back. I took my camera out and started scrolling through the photos. Every once in a while, Danny would point out the positive things about a picture and Jenni would comment on them.

"I like your pictures a lot Miss Miller, but unfortunately we cannot use them now. Maybe next time?" Jenni said.

"Yes that would be great! Thank you so much Miss Bailey," I exclaimed, shaking her hand.

"Please, just call me Jenni. And Danny, be sure to email me the pictures that we chose ASAP! Good day." Jenni turned and left the studio.

The studio was almost empty by now. Just a few of the workers were cleaning things up. Danny told me to wait for him and started to get all of his stuff. I got my things an texted Jade to pick me up because Mark was still at work and then we walked outside together.

"I saw you sitting with One Direction in the lunch room, what was that about?" He asked as we walked.

I shrugged. "They asked if they could sit with me. We were just talking."

"Lucky you, you have five cute boys chasing you," Danny said.

"I highly doubt they're "chasing" me," I laughed.

"Ok we'll see about that. Here why dont you take my number in case you have any questions about work or if I need to get in touch with you," Danny suggested. We swapped numbers and then said good bye to each other.

Jade pulled up in her Fiat 10 minutes later, music blasting.

"So, how was your first day?" Jade asked when I got in.

"It was... interesting," I replied and told her about everything during the car ride home. When I got to the part about One Direction, she wouldn't stop asking questions about them.

I was exhausted when I got home so I decided to take a nap which ended up being 2 hours long. When I woke up I saw that Danny had called me then texted me right after. I read the text, it said: "we're meeting at the xfactor stage at the theatre tmrw at 9 for sound check.gonna take pics of the contestants in action, see you soon!"

I texted him back saying thanks and then went to eat dinner with Mark and Jade and we discussed our day.

After dinner I took my laptop and Skyped with my brothers and parents for a little. I told them about my first day of work and about London but I didnt say anything about the boy.

I went to bed that night excited for tomorrow. I was excited to see the boys and to hear them sing. And if Danny was right and they were actually "chasing me", I had a feeling that it would make this job a whole lot more interesting
