Picture Perfect

It all started with a job. Chloe Miller had a job. As a photographer. In London. For the hit t.v. show XFactor. She never new that the five boys she became best friends with would end up being the most popular boy band in the world. She never knew that they would would break their promise either. Or her heart.

10. At First Sight

I had a hard decision the next morning. I didnt know what to wear which was very important since the boys were coming. I could either dress up really nice to show them what they missed out on, or dress casual and comfortable to show them that I was still the same person and didnt care.

I decided to go casual and wear a plain black short sleeved shirt with dark jean shorts and black converse. I barely put any make up on and braided my hair then pulled it over my shoulder.

When I thought I looked presentable, I went downstairs to see both of my parents sitting at the kitchen table.

My dad looked neat and official as always and my mom had her dark brown hair up in a tight bun. She had a pink blouse on and white pants. People said I looked exactly like her.

"Good morning," I said.

"Morning sweetie," my parents greeted me.

I went over to the counter where french toast was waiting for me next to my coffee.

"I'll drive you today sweetie, I'm ready whenever you are," my mom said.

When I finished eating, I said good bye to my dad and my mom drove me to work. I decided not to tell her that the boys would be there because she would over react and then probably make me stay home. It was best to tell her about things after they happened, that way she wont be able to stop them.

The boys werent there yet when I arrived so I went backstage to be immediately greeted by Demi.

"Hey, are you ready for today?" she asked.

"I think so," I said, nodding slowly.

"I spoke to Niall last night on the phone," Demi added.

"Did he say anything about me?" I asked.

"Well he doesnt know we're friends," she pointed out. "He must know that you work for X Factor still though because when he found out I was going to be a judge he asked if I knew you. This was before we were friends though so I said no. He hasnt said anything since."

"Right," I responded.

"Just relax Chlo and try not to freak out," Demi instructed. I nodded and gave her a weak smile. Then a short woman came over to us. She was an advisor for all the backstage and technical things on X factor.

"Chloe Miller, the photographer Jessie White called in sick today," the woman told me. "She apologizes and said that she will call you tonight."

I groaned but thanked the woman and she hurried off. I turned to Demi and said, "I guess I'll have to take pictures today. Oh well, I havent done it here for a while. I missed it." She laughed and I got my camera and headed to the stage with her.

Demi was watching the contestants she was in charge of sing from her seat at the judges table and I was crouched down in between the table and the stage trying to get good angles for my pictures. This went on for about 20 minutes and then I heard the doors open behind me. I didnt look behind me because i figured it was just one of the workers but then i heard Demi whisper in my ear.

"It's them," she said. My heart skipped a beat and I didnt look back still. I didnt want to yet. But then the contestant stopped singing and stared at what I assumed was the boys and I was forced to look. I glanced over my shoulder quickly and saw the five boys standing there, greeting and talking to the four judges.

They looked different. They looked older. They had changed a lot. Of course, i had seen recent pictures and videos of them but it was different seeing them in person. They had all grown in height and gotten more muscular too. Especially Harry, Zayn and Niall.

Harry had grown out his hair so it was flipped to one side. It was still curly and he himself had grown a lot taller. He was cuter than ever with a navy blue t-shirt and dark denim jeans. He had on a bunch of bracelets too.

Niall had also grown out his hair and or was more of a dirty blonde now and it was messy. He wore a white tank top with khaki shorts. He had also gotten braces and had a fitted hat on.

Liam had cut his hair. He wore it up in what was almost like a quiff and had on a plain red t-shirt with jeans.

Louis' hair was just a little shorter and he had aviator sunglasses on with a a blue and white striped shirt and blue shorts.

Last was Zayn. He looked better than ever. His hair had grown a lot more and he was combed down flat. A streak of hair was dyed blonde in the front too. He had his big glasses on and tank top with jeans. He had gotten more tattoos too.

They hadnt noticed me yet but Demi noticed that her act had stopped singing and signaled for her to keep going so I had something to distract me. As I continued taking pictures I heard footsteps coming towards the stage and the boys walked right passed me, laughing and talking. I heard Harry's voice and realized that it had gotten a lot deeper. They hadnt noticed me yet and walked right up on stage. Of course they hadnt. I had changed a lot in two years too. And anyway, they just saw the back of me.

"We havent been on an X Factor stage in a while," Niall said, his Irish accent was so familiar.

"Yeah," Liam replied then turned to the contestant on stage. "Hello love, nice to meet you," he said to her and started talking.

The boys started goofing off and singing on stage. Demi looked and gave me a look that said sorry. She signaled for me to keep taking pictures. I tried not to show my face and hid it behind my camera. Through the lens I could see the boys laughing and having fun. I could tell that they hadnt changed at all and were still the same as they were when I left them. I kept glancing over my camera at them so I wouldnt get marks on my face for pressing it against me so hard.

I kept noticing Harry glancing over at me and then he went over to Niall and whispered something in his ear while pointing right at me- just like they did 2 years ago when they first saw me on my first day of work. Except this time they didnt smile or laugh, they just squinted their eyes at me like they were trying to figure out if it was really me or not. I hadnt noticed that while staring back at them I had taken my camera away from my face to leave it fully exposed. I also hadnt noticed that the rest of the boys and Demi were staring at me too.
