Child of the Seas

Ebony and Merry live two very different lives in separate worlds. Neither has ever considered the possibility of the other's existence. But now the bridges between the worlds are weakening.
An ancient prophecy snatches Merry from her world and brings her to Ebony. Now, the two girls must save Ebony's world from a terror as old as the prophecy, which is destroying the world and the worlds connected to it.
Countless lives and worlds are resting on the girls' shoulders... but will Ebony and Merry be able to save them?

In order for you to understand this story, you have to understand my story.

You have probably guessed I grew up in the village I just told you about. My parents loved me-- I hope they still do, after all I've put them through. I've had lots of friends, and best friends, but no-one really, really special. I used to wonder if that meant there was something wrong with me, but now I know it's just because I'm not altogether approachable, usually.

It was because of this loner-like personality that I decided to spend a day alone, outside of the village. Recently people had been pointing a finger at me, accusing me of witchcraft and other foolish matters. They started to spit at my feet and cursed my parents for bringing me into this world. You might wonder why they would single me out. Well, I was struck by lightning and survived, when I was just a baby. People think that's a sign of powerful magic.

But that's another story-- one I might tell to you if there is enough time.

So, that day, I went on a walk to my favourite place on Ertis: Lonely Lake.

Lonely Lake is often misty and/or rainy. Owl hoots echo across it often. Some might think it is creepy.

But I don't. I value its peace, its perfection in hiding me. It alone brings out things in me nobody has ever encountered before, including me.

The day I had to escape the village for some peace and quiet was absolutely no different from any other.

Until suddenly, the water of the lake began to bubble and froth.

Until I saw something stir in the depths of the lake.

Until a head rose from the water, looking like anyone's but being completely different.

Until I met Merry.
