I had half an hour until Jai arrived, and I was panicking just a little. What if we had nothing to talk about? What if it was all just a joke? What if Jai didn’t actually turn up? So many thoughts were going through my head, and I had no one to talk to about them. The boys were probably my best friends, but I really needed to get some friends who were girls. I mean, it’d be weird if I asked James what I should do with my hair, or if I asked Luke what colour lip gloss I should choose. Luckily I’d managed to find something to wear; I’d chosen a loose fitting sleeveless top with swallows printed all over it and a pair of washed out high waisted shorts. I slipped on my black vans, applied a small amount of make-up and let my hair fall around my face in its natural waves.     I heard the doorbell ring, and rushed down the stairs, hoping to get to the door before my mum. I grabbed the handle and quickly pulled the door open. Jai spun round and I felt my breath hitch in my throat; he looked so hot. He was wearing a blue and white striped sweater, plum chinos and his vans.   “You look amazing, Abbie,” Jai said, looking me up and down.   “You don’t look too bad yourself,” I told him, smiling.   “Shall we go? Jai asked, holding his hand out towards me.   I placed my hand in his, and as we walked out of the door together I shouted to my family.   “I’m going out with Jai, see you later!”   “Have fun darli-” I heard her shout back, before she was cut off by the door slamming. I turned around to see my mum,dad and little brother staring at us through the window but i continued to walk on.   Jai and I walked down the road, hand in hand. It was still light out, and the weather was really nice. I don’t know why I was worried about us not having anything to talk about; the conversation between us just flowed really easily.   We’d been walking for about 10 minutes before I heard the sound of waves crashing  against the shore.   “We’re going to the beach?” I asked, surprised.   “Yeah, I remember you told me how much you loved the beach when we were sat together on the plane,” Jai replied.   Aww. I melted a bit inside. I couldn’t believe he remembered that, this boy was actually perfect.     “Come on, stop being so slow,” he laughed, pulling me along.   I slipped off my vans and the sand was warm on my toes. The sun was beaming down onto my back as Jai and I carried on walking along the beach. We reached a group of beach huts and Jai stopped. He pulled a key out of his pocket and opened up the door to one of the huts.   I gasped.   Fairy lights had been hung up around the wall, and there was a picnic mat spread out over the floor, covered with numerous cushions. Pushed against the back wall of the hut was a giant bean bag and in front of that was a picnic basket.   “You like it?” Jai asked nervously.   “I love it Jai!” I said, smiling.   Jai plugged his iPod touch into the docking station whilst I sat down on the mat. Jai    dragged the picnic basket over and opened it up, revealing many packets and boxes of    food piled on top of each other.   My eyes bulged at the sight of the food - I was hungry. Jai laughed at me.   “What do you want to eat first?”He asked, grinning.   “How am I meant to choose, it all looks so nice?!”   “Well if you really can’t choose, we could put it in a blender and you can have it all at the same time,” Jai said deviously.   “Let’s not do that,” I laughed, grabbing a bunch of Caramello Koalas and ripping open the packets.   We had to wade through so much food to find what we wanted that Jai ended up tipping everything out of the basket and onto the mat.    “Hey Abbie, you’ve got something on your face,” Jai laughed.   “What? Where?!” I asked, embarrassed.   “Right there,” Jai said, wiping melted chocolate down my cheek.      “Jai!” I screamed, giggling. I grabbed a cake and threw it at him. It hit Jai right between the eyes, and slid down his face, leaving a trail of icing.   I screamed with laughter, trying to push Jai’s hands away from my face, but it wasn’t working. He edged closer to me, placed his fingers in the icing and dotted it on the tip of my nose. I giggled and Jai dropped the cake on the floor next to me. He was still lying on top of me, yet managing to keep his weight off me, and I think that’s when we realised just how close we were to each other.   Our eyes met, and my heart was pounding in my chest. As he brought his face closer, I  could feel his warm breath mixing with mine, and gently, he brushed his lips against mine. Our lips were moving together, and I felt Jai’s hand stroking my cheek. He pulled away, smiling.   “I really do like you Abbie,” Jai whispered, resting his forehead on mine.
