Chapter Eleven:

Bea sighed as she made her way towards the end of the hallway. She was about ready to collapse on top of the nearest bed and sleep for a short decade. She was too tired to make any sense of what had happened the last few days, but she was sure that once she had gotten some sleep everything would hit her with the force of a massive boulder.

Hoping whoever she was going to share a room with was still asleep, she carefully pushed the door open. Only to realize her afford had been wasted. Two girls were sitting on each their bed, watching her as she walked in.

One of them looked very young. She couldn't be older than 14 as she sat there with her freckles and her long brown hair. The other looked older than both of them. She had all the tell-tale traits. She was a nymph, she could easily be several hundred years, and still look no older than twenty. Her long, pale legs were stretched, resting casually on the bed, she sat with amazing grace. Her full lips were parted in a half smile, and her long almost bluish black hair hung over her chest.

The youngest of the girls jumped up and gestured towards the third bed in the room. “This is your bed.” She said before taking Bea's bag and putting it on the mattress. “I'm Julia Black, it's nice to meet you. This is Analiese, she doesn't say much, at least not to me.”

The girl's eagerness made Bea smile. She hadn't expected anyone who had been doomed with their fate, to be so happy and openminded.

"I'm Beatrice Maroon, but people just call me Bea.” Bea said with a smile, now torn between sleeping and chatting with the two girls.

"Maroon?” Analiese asked. “That's a quite unusual name around these parts.”

"Well, I guess.” Bea just said, hoping the nymph wasn't going where Beatrice feared she was.

"You must be named after your grandmother.” Analiese continued, wanting to make a point but Bea didn't let her.

"Yes, I am.” She said, cutting Analiese off. “Where are you two from?”

"I'm from the villages in the east, near the silver mines.”Julia explained. “My family and I lived in the woods, though. My kind aren't exactly welcome in the villages.”

Before Bea could ask any questions, Analiese broke into the conversation.

"Look, we all need sleep before training tomorrow. You can chat later.” With those words Analiese crawled into bed, and turned her back to the others.

Julia just shrugged and rolled her eyes before she did the same, leaving Bea to get ready to bed and get the sleep she had been longing for for days.
