Danté's Book of the Mad, Sad and Dangerous To Know

A collection of poems by me. Most of these are completely spontaneous so...we'll see how they turn out.
There is no overall theme to these, though I suppose "Dark" is one. Enjoy, I hope.

6. Space

It’s so cold in this darkness,

So silent and serene,

Yet still and forbidding,

No one can hear you,

No matter what noises you make,

You cannot be found,

But upon this ship,

With walls of metal,

Suddenly all are aware,

Of your presence in the stars,

And it is now that war begins,

Between man and alien forms,

And here I am upon this ship,

As metal bends and breaks,

And those creatures kill all,

Any man who crosses their path,

Any man who dares to try,

And stop their killing spree,

Cannot tell how much joy they feel,

As they tear us all apart,

They are beings of death,

Creatures that focus on killing,

Their four cold eyes,

Watch us at all times,

And those that survive,

Will become their slaves,

These insect-like beings,

Guns of living matter,

Mixed with cold steel,

Fire small bugs inside our forms,

Eating us, destroying us,

But it’s not the end for us,

A final hope remains,

To end this nightmare,

The ship’s reactor,

It must explode,

And destroy the evil beings,

That tear us limb from limb,

Whilst we will die, so will they,

The explosion will destroy,

The vile An’Petari,

Three, two, one,

This nightmare’s almost done,

And cue the final zero,

On this day, there’ll be no heroes,

The death of our ship,

The death of the creatures,

But the war will go on,

And so goodbye to the world,

Goodbye to life,

The final explosion is nigh…
