26. Trouble In Paradise Danté's Point Of View

I was half-way home from the park and I got a message from Clover saying;

Hiiii! Want to come over for a while? :) xxx

I sighed happily at the thought of seeing Clover and immediately replied;

Heeyo! Sure why not? YOLO =D xxx

I made my way to Clover's house, still fuming over what had happened in the park.

I reached Clover's house at 4 o clock and was greeted by a warm smile and a hug from her mam.

"She's just upstairs in her room." Her mam said jovially, "You can go on up." I made my way upstairs and knocked on her bedroom door. I walked in when I heard Clover's voice sayng that it was ok for me to come in. She was sitting on her bed, reading the new issue of Bliss and I sat down beside her. She was reading the problems page and I commented on how stupid some of the people are. I'd noticed something was up when Clover didn't laugh, she just grunted in reply.

"What's up?" I asked, concerned. She sighed and showed me the latest message on her phone. It was a message from Helen, I shuddered, remembering what had happened a half an hour earlier The message said;

Danté asked me out when we were in the park <3 So I guess that makes him a two-timing cheater :) works well for me =D

"You didn't tell me you met up with Helen today." She said anxiously, "What happened?"

"Nothing." I reassured her, not wanting to tell her about what Helen said and did, "Nothing happened."

"Well according to Helen, something pretty big happened." She said, jumping off the bed.

"Nothing happened." I replied firmly. "And I cant believe you would believe Helen over me!"

"Why should I believe you?" she screeched.

"Eh, maybe because we've been going out for 3 weeks." I said sarcastically

"Well you didn't tell me that you were meeting Helen!"

"Yeah, because I knew you would talk me into not going!" I hissed, "And she said she had something to tell me. I just couldn't resist! You know how nosy I am!"

"Just tell me!" she screamed, tears rolling down her face.

"No!" I protested. "Why can't I keep this one thing to myself?"

She sighed, walked up to me and whispered in my ear, "You are going to tell me what happened."

I knew she was weak-willed and would give in after a while. I pulled her into a tight hug and reassured her that nothing had happened in the park. She pushed me away and looked at me in disgust.

"Get out." She said quietly but firmly.

"Clover, please, don't do this." I cried, welling up at the thought of losing her.

"Why won't you tell me what happened?" She sobbed, "Did you really ask her out?"

"No! Of course I didn't!" I shouted, "I can't believe you would be stupid enough to believe Helen over me!" Just as the words passed my lips, I knew that had crossed the line. She jumped onto her bed and started sobbing into her pillow. I walked over and sat down beside her.

"I'm sorry Clover" I said sadly, tears running down my face. I started rubbing her back but got nothing in return but a thump in the chest and a hate-filled,

"Dont touch me! I hate you!"

As soon as she said this, my chest started to hurt. I didn't know whether it was becasue of the thump or whether it was my heart breaking.

I went downstairs and out the front door with Clover's mam running behind me, asking what had happened. I just ignored her and started running home.
