I'm Sorry, Do I Know You?

I'm back! Did you miss me? Basically, this isn't fan fiction (shocker!) this time but it's more of just something I wrote. I hope you like it. (:

5. Chapter 5

By the time I got back to Jake’s room, he was wide awake, and smiled at me.

“Hi, Rachel.”

“Morning, Jacob. How are you?”

“I’m okay. I get to go home today, right?” I nodded. “Great. But, uh, Rachel, do you happen to have clothes for me? I know it’s weird to ask, but I don’t really want to go home in this...”

I grinned.

“Why not? It’s very flattering.” I joked.

“It’s a bit revealing. Besides, I don’t know who’s at my house. It could be my parents.”

“Unlikely. You don’t have any family down here. They moved to Australia.”

“Really?” He looked crestfallen. “Well, okay then. I guess I’ll call them or something later. Do they even know I was in here?”

“Yes, I told them a week or two back. They want you to call them as soon as you get back. You can use my laptop, you can video call them.”

“Thank you, Rachel. So do I live on my own?”

“Really? No room-mate or anything?”

“Nope.” I grinned. “Here. My sister gave me some clothes for you.” I tossed some clothes over to him. He thanked me and rushed off to a bathroom to change. I made his bed for lack of something better to do when he was gone. He came back after about ten minutes.

“That took you a long time.” I commented.

“I couldn’t remember what room I was in. I had to check my bracelet.” He dumped the gown on an armchair and held up his arm to show me the plastic band around his wrist. “And that genius idea wasn’t after I wandered around for a bit.”

He looked disappointed, but before I could ask him what was wrong, a nurse came in. She looked happy to see that Jake was up.

“Good morning.” She checked his vitals and handed him a sheet of paper. “You’re leaving today, so this is a sheet of some exercises you can do to help make your brain work. Help things catch up and move along.”

“Thanks.” He replied.

“Did you want anything to eat?”

“No it’s okay, we’ll get something on the way home.”

“Okay then. Jack, could you just come with me to fill out some forms and then you’re good to go.”
