8. Day 3 - part 1

I awoke and stumbled out of my sleeping bag and out of my tent. Everyone was up before me again, sitting around the fire eating the leftover marshmallows.

“Hey Emma, what’s the big deal about waking up so late? Its annoying having to wait for you!“ Ashleigh complained humorously.

I smiled squinting my eyes at the same time sarcastically laughing. I grabbed a stick and ate my share of the marshmallows. We all chatted eating our marshmallows and keeping warm at the fire and in the morning sun. Morgan leaped to her feet her eyes popping out of her head in fear. We all stared at her wondering what she was doing.

“everyone be quiet!” She screamed at us. Our conversations quickly stopped to listen to her.

"do you hear that?” she whispered squinting her eyes as if we were pray.

We all shook our heads on confusion. We exchanged glances saying to each other ‘what is she on about?’

“who is it? I know you played a trick on Emma on Monday but don’t you DARE do it to me!” She whispered in a threatening voice, her eyes watering.

She lifted her stick and pointed it towards us, threatening us. She waved it in our faces her hand shaking. No one knew what she was on about but we were worrying about her.

“Ashleigh…sit down, your scaring us” I stood up slowly taking the stick out of her hand.

“Why are you doing this to me!” She screamed in my face. Her face full of desperation.

She crept down and hugged her knee’s with her head faced down. I listened to her whispering to herself. U looked around at everyone else their mouths open too surprised to move or say anything. I rubbed her back to try and calm her down, which didn’t help the situation.

“Ashleigh, were not doing anything” Morgan whispered walking over to us trying to calm her down with me. Ashleigh lifted her head her eyes watering and red.

“I’m hearing voices, they are saying…help me…save us…put us to rest…find them quickly…please…” She stood up holding her head.

She ran away from us and out of the field. We didn’t hesitate and raced after her not sure where she was going. We followed her until she turned a corner, then we lost her. We didn’t give up on chasing her and ran around the corner quickly stopping when we seen her sitting on the bench facing the school. We walked over to her quietly, looking at what she was staring at. The high school wall.
