Hush Polly.

Who can she trust? Who should she side with? Or should she listen when they all tell her "Hush Polly."

5. After work.

The hour didn’t go in fast it dragged on and on and on. It felt more like five hour than one. To put the icing on top of the cake, Noah decided to show up before I finished. He sat toying with Phil as usual. Phil was oblivious to his presence. He did wonder why he felt a sudden chill on his ear. Noah messed with Phil until I was done.

I took off my apron and hung it up on my peg. “That’s me done Kenneth.” I called. “Alright Polly.” He chimed. “Amy should be in soon to take over the night shift.” I popped my head through the door. “Its fine Polly just go home.” He waved me out of the kitchen. I turned and looked at table number four. Trent was still sitting there. I began to walk when Noah appeared. “Where you going?” He smirked. “Where did you go?” I asked in a hushed tone. “I followed Phil to his car and messed with it.” I shook my head. “Answer my question.”

“I am going over there to see Trent.” I walked past him. “Trent?” He turned and looked at me, but I kept on walking. “Who is Trent?”

I slid into the red leather seat opposite him. “Hey.” He chirped and grinned. “Hi, what you want to talk bout?” I leaned into the leather seat. “I’m new and I don’t know a lot about this town, wondered if you could just well you know.” He shrugged. “If I would fill you in on things.” He nodded.

“Plus you seem pretty cool. You’re nice and friendly.” That made my cheeks turn rosy. “Well what you want to know?” I asked, feeling helpful. “Just stuff like where to go, where not to go.”

“Well if I were you I would avoid the Chinese on 4th Manor Road.” I wasn’t kidding; I went there and got food poisoning. “Alright.” He nodded. “The Italian on the main street is amazing, best pasta in town.” I grinned.

“So when you start working here then?” How could we go from talking about places to go and end up talking about my job? “I’ve worked here since I was 16.” It was pathetic trying to live on the money I got from this place. My parents lend me money but I didn’t like taking it that’s why I lived in a one bedroom flat with a tiny kitchen which had the sitting room joined on and a small bathroom that only had a shower toilet and sink.

“So how old are you?” He looked into my eyes and I looked away. I didn’t like the way I was feeling. “Eighteen you?” I played with my hair. “Nineteen.” Suddenly Noah appeared sitting beside me. “This is who you are meeting?” He looked Trent up and down. Trent looked in his direction for a split second as if he had seen him before turning back to me. “Look at him Polly you really gonna go out with this dude?” He pointed at Trent and I ignored him. “So what you doing tomorrow night?” Trent asked. “Nothing.”

“Alright, I will see you at the Italian at six.” He winked at me got up and left, just as Amy came in.
