9. Of course I'll be your girlfriend

I thought about what my Dad would say. I would disappoint him so badly. I stopped. I got up. I picked up my bag. And I left. I was running down the stairs and heading out onto the street before Louis had even realised I had left. I heard him calling out my name, trying to catch up with me. I turned around and watched his head bob along with the crowd. I shook my head at him and flicked around to the direction I was walking. I screamed as I almost walked into a lorrty full of oranges. Gapsing at my near miss, I turnedaround again to see if I could see where Louis was. He wasn't there. He doesn't like me that much then. I thought sulkily turning back around. A sullen expression on my face.

I almost screamed again, Louis was standing right in frot of me, he was holding my wrists loosely. But tightly enough so I couldn't escape. I looked at the ground. Not bearing to face him at the moment.

He let go of one of hands and pushed my chin up so he could see my face, his smile made me feel guilty.

"Where're you running off to Rills?" Louis asked smiling sweetly, talking in that smooth voice of his.

I couldn't tell him. I smiled awkwardly. Being around him, made me want to smile.

"Is it your Dad Rills?" Another question

I nodded vigorously as he let go off my chin.

He mumbled to himself "No, not here, not right now." and pulled me into an alley way.

"No, Louis, I don't thi-" I was cut off as he put a warm hand ver my mouth. He was looking at the street. His head resting on my bouncy hair. I tried to look where he was, at a woman holding a microphone and a bloke heaving a heavy camera on his shoulder. I was honestly confused. Louis was hiding from a news reporter? But then again, he is scared of a book convention I thought secretly.

Finally they passed and he allowed himself to breathe again.

"I'm sorry it's just I-" I cut him off.

"You're afraid of news reporters as well as book conventions?" I asked truthfully.

He looked a bit puzzled but agreed. As we came out of the alleyway he put his arm around my waist. I didn't really mind it.

"I've been wanting to ask you this question. " Louis began. "I wanted to ask you today, but things were a bit busy." He paused "I think your pretty. I want to hang out some more."

I smiled at him "That's cool with me. I said looking up at him, eyes gleaming.

"Well, it's more then that. Marilla, I want you to be my girlfriend." He looked hopeful.

I stood still in the middle of the street. Louis had to herd me to the edge of the pavement. I was shocked. I hadn't really had a boyfriend before. Not a proper one.

I answered simply "Of course I'll be your girlfriend."
