"Remember when I promised to love you forever?"

"Forever isn't over yet."

43. Confused

"Zayn?" She mumbled, and looked up at him, through her eyelashes. He smiled down at her.
"I wonder one thing..." She looked away from him, and stared out in the air in front of her. "Yes?" He asked, and pressed his lips down in her hair. A wry little smile grew on her lips, "Do you remember when we were sitting by the water, and you promised me forever?". He couldn't help but smile when the memory came running into his mind, of course he remembered. They had been a bit drunk, but he had meant it. "Yeah, I do." He whispered, still with his nose down in her hair. She giggled a little, and placed the hand that wasn't holding his, on his thigh. "You know that nothing lasts forever, right?" She smiled a little, and looked up at him again.

His face hardened a bit, and his smile faded. He didn't answer, instead he just shrugged his shoulders. "No matter how much you want it to, nothing is forever..." She kept on teasing.

"I know. But forever to me is... As long as I'm still breathing, and maybe even after death," His eyes scanned the room, as she was watching him. "After death..." She mumbled, and lifted her head a bit, to place a slight kiss on his jaw. "But we're not here once we die,"

"Em, please," Zayn voice was barely a whisper. There was no doubt that he didn't like to talk about that subject, it was a thing that was too touchy. "Sorry," She mumbled, and let her fingers run in circles on his thigh.

Emily's P.O.V:

I felt relaxed while lying there with Zayn, but on the inside the wheels in my head were turning, and my heart beating in an uncontrolled rhythm. I didn't know what to feel... Or who to have feelings for.

James grabbed the last box just before I had a chance to take it. "We can't have you carrying all the heavy stuff," He laughed, and pulled the box up in his arms. I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, "I'm actually quite much of a body builder," I giggled. He rolled his eyes, with a wryly smile. Then he made his way past me, and I followed him. He walked up the staircase, and up on the front porch. The front door was wide open, and he placed the box in the hall, on top of plenty lot of other boxes. "So that's it?" I asked, and rubbed my hands against each other. He looked over his shoulders, and smiled at me, "Yes, that's it". I couldn't help but light up in a huge smile. I ran up to him, and wrapped my arms around his neck, while standing on my tiptoes. He pulled me in for a hug, and held onto me tightly. My feet were barely touching the ground. He spun around one time, with me in his arms, and my feet lifting the ground. "I love you so much," He whispered, and planted a soft and lovely kiss in my hair. I just smiled.

I kicked the sand with my feet, as I walked hand in hand with him. The sun was slowly going down behind the horizon, and the breeze was chilly. The water rolled up on the beach, and touched my feet, up to my ankles. I didn't care if I got sick. It was one of the last days on July, and I had start working again next week. So every minute I spend was important, specially when James was here. He kept a smile on my face, and I felt truly happy with him. He squeezed my hand gently, and I looked up at him. My tummy filled with butterflies, and I rested my head on his biceps as we kept on walking down the beach.

His blonde slings of hair were soft, and I kept messing around with them. It was chilly outside, the weather had changed fast. Even though it only was September the weather was wet, and cold. The rain was hitting the windows hard, and the wind making the trees sway. The sound of the television was relaxing. I was wearing a big comfy sweater, and we were tucked in in blankets. James head was resting in my lap. My eyes were on him, and his eyes were focused on the movie. His smile was flawless...

I fast snapped back to reality, and looked up at him. My heart sank in my chest, and I swallowed. What was I doing?
