No Returns

Amelia Johnson has a perfect life, she has an unlimited bank balance, a perfect boyfriend, a life in the spotlight, but after one party ends in disaster, Amelia life is turned upside down.... With no returns.

9. Lies

The first night in Oceanside I couldn't sleep, I lay in my bed staring up at the ceiling. It was too hot, even though I had pulled back my sheets completely and Monica had opened the window for me so the breeze came in, but Lindsey complained it was cold. (It really wasn't!) I looked over towards her, but she had her back towards me and was sleeping with her covers on, I guess she was used to this weather. I was going to give Lindsey a chance, she was only jealous of how hot I am! (That sounded really Amelia! I've decided Grace isn't like that.) I guess I was never used to anyone talking down to me, normally I was the bitch and the one who acted territorial, it was like Lindsey was me, the old me.

"Can't sleep?" I looked over towards Lindsey, who was looking at me. I smiled,

"No..." I whispered,

"Do you miss home?" Yeah I did, I missed everything I thought I hated, my room, my clothes, my friends, my parents and my whole life.

"Yeah, I do." Lindsey pulled her blonde hair out of her face, before sitting up in bed,

"Where are you from? I forgot to ask, but you're British right?" Okay, now I had to remember my back story Sam had told me to say if anyone had asked where I was from.

"Yeah, I'm originally from Cornwall in England, but we moved to New York about 5 years ago, where we've lived ever since." That sounded pretty convincing!

"Oh' my god, I've always wanted to New York! It's funny how we never knew I had a really distant cousin, I could of come to New York" I wasn't related to this family in any way, that's just what they were told, they were told that my mum had passed away and the only family I had was them and Monica had no choice but to take me in.

"Well, I just wanted to get out of the city and come to California, because I've never been before. I'm sure some day you can come to the city, as a thank you for taking me in..." I Lied. I'd been here about two years ago to L.A on a charity meet and greet, then a premier of some movie. I looked over towards Lindsey, we had turned back round in her bed and by the sound of her light snoring, had fallen back to sleep. I sighed before making myself comfortable, maybe I'd try again to get a bit more sleep.

"Wake up Grace, Grace wake up!" I yawned, as I felt someone pushing me, I slowly opened my eyes. There was Lindsey standing over my, still in her PJs, what was going on? "Grace get up now, or we'll be late for school." School, oh' yay, I couldn't wait to be the new kid. I was praying it wouldn't be like the American schools you see in films, with the bullies who throw stuff at you and stuff your head down a toilet, and then the popular bitches who will tear me apart. I was used to being a popular bitch, which was now going to change. Lindsey sighed before opening the wardrobe door, pulling out some clothes, "You have an hour Grace, you better be dressed in the next five minutes as breakfast is on the table." She said before heading out the room and into the bathroom next door. I pulled myself out of bed, wiping the sleep from my eyes. I made my way over to the wardrobe that Lindsey had left open, I pulled the first t-shirt I saw out, that was some vintage band shirt that I'd never heard of before, then some shorts, grabbing some underwear from the draw. Where did I get changed, do I wait for the bathroom? I hovered in the room, quickly glancing into the mirror on Lindsey's side of the room. I looked a mess, my face was all red and my hair was all knotted, I shocked myself because I expected to see Amelia in the mirror, with perfect blonde hair, but there Grace was with her brunette tangled hair. I pulled at my fringe, trying to make it sit right again, there. That would do. I took one last look before getting changed.
