7. The next victim.

I woke up to singing and I recognised the voices. Sophia and Madison were luring out their next victim, but who? I swam to the surface and saw them, they looked possessed. Sophia’s eyes seemed to glow. Not a nice glow a horrible glow, like she was singing without knowing it. Madison was the same; she swam next to Sophia, a little away though. They didn’t know what they were doing. I looked at the beach; a figure was entering the water.

It was a teenage boy, he wasn’t built up, but wasn’t exactly weak. He wasn’t stick thin but he defiantly wasn’t fat, nowhere near. His auburn curls blew in the breeze and fell just above his ears. His chiselled jaw was set in a firm mould as he stared at the girls.

“No!” I shrieked swimming over to the two girls. “Stop it!” I splashed the water in front of them, but their eyes were focused on him.

‘Come on boy,

You know you want to join us.

To have lots of fun with us gorgeous girls.

Come taste out lips and explore our world.’

The song chilled me to the bone. I flicked water in their faces, trying to get them out the trance. I turned to look at him. He was now waist deep in the water and still walking. “Stop this!” I pleaded, and then they suddenly bean to swim, towards him. They let out fearful hisses, but the boy froze. I pulled all my strength together and swam. My tail throbbed as I over took them, trying to reach him first.

I blocked their path to him, extending my arms shielding him. “Do not touch him!” I spat, I could feel the seabed with my tail. I was in the shallow water. They hissed, eyes glowing furious with rage. “I mean it!” I snapped, narrowing my eyes. They chanted the same words over and over again. He began to move around me. “No!” I dashed in front of him. “Please stop listening to their song.” A tear slithered down my cheek. I rubbed my hand against his cheek, it was ruff. Fine hairs all over his chin and up the sides of his face. “Please.” I whispered.

My attempts didn’t work, the girls kept chanting and he kept trying to get to them. I wouldn’t let them near him, they wouldn’t do to him what they done to my brother. I had to get his attention, break the spell. I just didn’t know how. He didn’t know what he was doing, it was like he had no control over his actions, his brain was shutting off. I bit my lip, frantically searching my brain for the answer. I blanked out for a split second and he passed me and was practically in front of the two girls.

They latched onto him and began to pull him out into the lake. I snapped out of my trance and followed. I tore them off his arm and hissed at them. “Did I just hiss?” I shook the question from my head. I turned to face him, took his face in my hands and pressed my lips tight against his.
