1. Sarias Morning

Saria woke up to the loud ring from her alarm clock. It told the worst time of the day, seven a.m, the time she had to get out of bed and face the long day that awaited her. She rolled out of bed taking all her duvet with her. She felt bloated and her legs felt numb. 'Period', she whispered to herself as she got up from the ground. She got dressed into a pair of baggy tracksuit pants and a loose fitting hoodie. She didn't feel like dressing up, or putting on makeup, the only think she did feel like was going back to her cosy warm bed and staying there for the rest of the day. She loosely pulled her hair back into a ponytail and ignored the fact that she had numerous spots on her face. 'It's going to be one of those days today', she muttered to herself as she left her room for breakfast.

There was absolutely no food in the kitchen, only a few pieces of fruit and a white sliced pan. It was nothing new. 'I'll be going shopping later on today, I promise Saria,' her Dad told her as he rubbed his forehead. 'It's just that with the late shifts at work and everything else that's going on i'm kind of pressed for time'. Saria nodded at her father and forced a smile, 'It's OK dad, i'll grab a piece of fruit and i'll eat it on the way to school'. Her Father smiled and leaned forward to kiss her on the cheek, he then left the house to go to work.

Saria sat in silence in the quite and cold kitchen for quite some time. She didn't feel like eating, nor drinking, but she knew that if she skipped breakfast she would get peckish later on. In the end she settled for a banana which had patches of brown spots on it. She tried to ignore the fact that it was probably out of date. When she was finished, she popped a mint into her mouth to get rid of the taste. She put on her raincoat, threw her bag over her shoulders and headed for Rusmoore High School.

*

Rushmoore High School was known for all the wrong reasons. The teenage pregnancy's, the many school dropouts, the stubborn teachers and the working class students. Saria hated her school, with a passion. The only thing that made school manageable was her best friend Kate. Kate and Saria had been best friends for a long time. Kate was brave and likable, she had long blonde curly hair that went passed her shoulders and had a short petite figure. And Kate had a gorgeous boyfriend, who liked her for who she was, not what she looked like. While Saria, was shy and timid, she had long dark hair and had Filipino features, as her mother was from there. She was tall and bony, and she never had a boyfriend. The thought of this made Saria sad, all the other girls in her class had a boyfriend one time in their life. She knew a boyfriend wasn't the most important thing in the world but it killed her inside every time she saw Kate with her boyfriend, Liam.

Kate was waiting for Saria , as usual, when she reached the school gates. 'You look very happy,' Kate said sarcastically when she saw Saria's facial expression. Saria gave her a cold stare. 'Sorry, do you have your..?' Saria nodded. They walked in silence for a while thinking of something to say. 'Oh!' Kate burst out. 'There's a new Irish guy in our class!' 'What'? Saria said in shock.  'Why in gods name would a boy from Ireland move all the here to bloody Rushmoore?' 'I don't know,' Kate said. 'But I heard he's meant to be dishy!'  Saria sighed. This was Kates favorite subject, boys. 'Kate, you have a loving boyfriend!' Saria said putting her arm on her best friends shoulder. 'I know', Kate replied with a cheeky grin. 'But you don't'.

When the bell rung nobody sat down in their seats, everyone was crowded around the one desk, the desk where the 'new boy' sat. 'Go on Saria, ask him if he's single'! Kate cried as they walked into the classroom. 'Kate, stop, i'm happy the way I am, single,' Saria lied. 'As if!' Kate replied. 'Anytime you see me with Liam you try to hold back your tears!' Saria felt as someone had stabbed her right through he chest, she tried to reply, but before she knew it, she was pushed onto the floor by the big crowd. Her head banged against the floor. She heard Kate scream. She felt dizzy. She felt a soft nudge on her shoulder and before she knew it, she was being pulled up.  'Woah, are you okay?' a kind, unfamiliar  voice spoke. 'Yeah i'm fine, thanks', Saria said mumbled rubbing her head. She didn't know where she was. She felt dizzy, but safe in the strangers hands. He had a firm grasp on her, so she wouldn't go anywhere. She had no idea what had just happened or who this man was. 'Why don't we take you to the nurse, eh?' the voice spoke.
