It's A Thin Line

A tragic love story, David and Lisa are meant to be, or are they?

3. What A Great Day

I angrily marched along the corridors, my eyes scanning for conference room 3A and the toilets. As I walked, I muttered under my breath " Well isn't my day going great. As well as being late, I am probably going to be fired, and now I have bloody coffee down me because some idiot thought she would find texting on her phone more interesting than actually looking where she was going."

I continued muttering under my breath as I searched the walls for doors labelled "Toilet" as I would have to make some effort to clean myself up.

Finally I came across some toilets, so I rushed inside and took off my soaked jacket. I dabbed some water on the huge brown stain that had formally been my expensive hand tailored suit and shoved it through the dysons airblade and attempted to do the "swift" movement that was needed to start the stupid machine. At this point it felt like an all time low in my day.

After a lot of faffing around with water and that stupid dryer, I figured it wasn't going to get any better so I rushed out of the toilet and sprinted up the stairs to 3A. I glanced at my watch, and those fateful hands were racing past half ten and quickly making their way to quarter to. " Oh crap."

I was feeling pretty guilty as I gently pushed the door to my office. That poor man- he was probably  mortified after what I did; after me tipping my coffee all down him! And he was in a rush, which is even worse. Oh Lisa,  i thought, you are an idiot!

Anyway, there was nothing I could do now- so I would just have to deal with it and move on. His world won't end. It's fine. After I had fully comforted myself, I made my way to my spacious desk and dumped my handbag down on the floor. My day hadn't even started yet and I was already exhausted!

" Hi Lisa!" I heard Sofia holler, as she jogged over to me and grabbed hold of my arm and pulled me over to her desk.

" Um.. hi!? What's all the excitement about??" I questioned. Although Sofia was the best friend I had probably ever had, she had to be taken in small doses this early in the morning. ( By the way, if you haven't already guessed, I am not an early riser, by any standards!)

Finally she released my arm and pushed my head down to the desk. " Look at that thing!"

" It's a spider."

" Yeah but look at the size of it!!!" She exclaimed. I burst out laughing, and started walking back to my desk.

" Seriously Sofia, get a life!" I teased, and she put on a pout and sank down to her seat. I could still see she was eyeing the spider all through the morning.

My eyes were wondering as I tapped away at the keys- my job was a pretty boring one, but it earned me some decent money so I was happy. I never considered myself as a person with a driven career motive. I was happy where I was. I guess.
