My journal of thoughts and observations.

2. Goodbye, I love you

I wish I had said 'goodbye' and 'I love you' to my grandfather before he died.  I don't remember ever telling him that I loved him.  Not in recent years, at least.  Not even in letters or e-mails.

I feel guilty that I didn't spend as much time with him as I should have when he lost the use of his legs and was placed in the hospice.  I hope he knows that I really did love him.

I loved his smell, his crooked smile, his crooked smile, his laughing eyes and...oh, so many things.  But they were all a part of the wonderful person I dearly loved and will never forget.

Goodbye, Grandad.  I love you.
