My Long Lost Love

Do you believe that everything happens for a reason? I don't. If that was true then why did my fiancée disappear? I want answers and I'll do anything to get them.

2. You have got to be kidding me

I awoke with the sound of my alarm. God I hate that sound. I slapped the snooze button but then I looked at the clock. 0730. No it can't be. I've got to leave for work in half an hour. I jumped out of bed and turned on the shower. I glanced at the ring on my finger. Last night all came rushing back to me. Leon had proposed and then we came back to my house. We watched a movie and then he went home, I think. I had quite a lot to drink so I'm not entirely sure. I had the quickest shower ever, dried my hair, shoved it up into a pony tail and did my make up. I flung on one of the outfits not even looking at what I was wearing. I ran into the car. No time for breakfast, I would pick up a coffee at the campus cafeteria. I'm a professor at the local university and I need to be on time because I have applied for a job at the top university in the country and I need a good review from my boss.

I arrived with ten minutes to spare. I grabbed a coffee and ran to my department. As I was running up the stairs one of the other professors, Cassie, stopped and said, "Morning, how was your date last night?"
"Amazing. I'll tell you about it later coz I'm I'm a bit of a rush."
"Oh ok see you later," she said with a puzzled look on her face.
I would say Cassie was my best friend and I always love to sit and have a coffee and discuss girly stuff with her but right now I was in a rush. Actually why was she not in her classroom? I ran to catch back up with her, by now I was really out of breath.
"Cassie!" I shouted down the hall so she would stop and talk. She heard me and turned round and smiled. I caught up with her and said, "Em Cassie, why are you not in your class."
"What do you mean silly? It's Saturday," she said while holding back a giggle.
"No it's Monday." I looked at my phone and saw that it was Saturday. I gave a big sigh and said, "You have got to be kidding me. I got up at flipping half seven on a Saturday morning to come to work that I didn't even have today." I leant on the wall and slumped down on the ground and burst not tears.
"Is everything alright Soph?" Cassie asked me in her caring voice. She is fantastic when it comes to sympathy.
"Yes. I had the most amazing evening with Leon and instead of staying with him last night, I slept alone thinking I had work in the morning."
"It's alright. C'mon let's go for a coffee." She took my arm and pulled me up. I can't imagine what would happen if I didn't have Cassie.
