She's Just A Psychopath, So Why Bother?

Lucy wishes they'd just leave her alone....the others don't understand.
My competition.

1. The Psycho

"Hey, look, there goes the Psycho!"

Of course, it would be Beth.  Always the first one to start a fight.  Never a good word simply for the sake of being nice.

Beth.  The one everyone respects.  The one everyone likes.  The one who gets what she wants, when she wants, and thinks she is entitled to everything.  She isn't, of course, but apparently no-one has the intelligence to point this out to her.

Taking a deep breath, I turn to face her. "I'm not a psychopath, Beth, I'm a high-functioning sociopath, do your research."

My tone of voice is cold yet vaguely irritated in a way which suggests I'm dealing with something far beneath my own level of intelligence.  Just a little undermining to Beth.  It's worked.  She is momentarily stunned.  Then someone laughs.

"Ha, she must be retarded as well as a psycho!  Can't even think up her own witty comebacks so she has to borrow them from the BBC!"

A chorus of laughter follows.  Angered, I spin around to face them.

"Ha, they must be retarded as well as bullies!  Can't even think up their own clever punchlines so they have to pick on other people's misfortunes!"

Silence.  Graham, the one who delivered the line about the BBC, has his eyes narrowed at me.  But I can tell they're all trying not to laugh.

Oh, look, there's the Psycho going psycho again.

Can't stay out of trouble for one day, can she?

Wow,  someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, we was only 'aving a laugh.

She must be Psychotic, never seen anyone so willing to pick a fight.

I stare at them.  They stare at me.
