12. Happy?

okay so i decided to carry on.... so yeah.

After Harry left, I kind of floated around. He made me feel... perfect.

I spent the rest of the week gathering my halloween costume and meeting up with the boys to watch them practise or to just hang out. Niall and I kind of had come to an unresolved truce so everything would be less awkward and it seemed to work. Harry had asked me to Louis' and Eleanor's Halloween party and I said yes. Lucy understood, and if she hadn't she certainly hadn't voiced it, especially after I told her what happened. I decided to go as a zombie cheerleader, as I'd originally planned for our Halloween-a-thon. My costume was a perky yellow crop top with blue lining around it which had the number '04' on the back and a short-short yellow skirt which also had blue lining. I finally got my cast off, even though my ankle still stung a teensy bit when I put weight on it, so I was able to wear my navy converses with my costume.

I sat down and let Lucy do my hair and make up an hour and a half before the part started. I wasn't 100% sure what she was doing, but I knew she'd make me looking amazing. I'd been sitting in front of her mirror for the past hour, Harry said he'd picking me up in about 15 minutes, so she better be making me look good.

"Okay, open!" Lucy finnaly squealed. I sighed in relief and opened my eyes.

"You are amazing," I gasped as I looked at my zombiefied self in the mirror. She'd put my hair in two ponytails and backcombed them and lightly sprayed it green in some places, and toned down my skin deadly white and outlined my eyes in chunky black and put on super long fake eyelashes. Underneath my eyes was tinted slightly purple and fake blood-tears were rolling down my cheeks.

"You're welcome," Lucy grinned from behind me, clearly happy with her work. We were both pulled out of our 'mezmerized' trance as the doorbell rang. Lucy squealed and ushered me up, out of the room and down the stairs. I grabbed my phone and opened the door.

"Hey, scary," Harry smirked and kissed my purple-y pink-y painted lips. I laughed and wiped the lipstick from his lips.

"Hi Mario," I replied, looking his outfit up and down. He had a blue flat cap on and blue denim dungerees with a red shirt underneath. Harry mock saluted then held out his hand. I took it and walked towards the car. I immediately turned on the radio and turned it to my favorite radio station, that I knew Harry hated.

"Don't you ever, every forget about me!" I sang when he started the car. Harry frowned at me before changing it back to Radio One. 'Diamonds' by Rihanna came on and I wrinkled my nose. I hated this song. I reached forward and turned off the radio completely. Harry turned and looked at my, surprised.

"Sing to me.." I muttered.

"Do I have to?" He grunted, staring at the road.

"Yes! One of your new ones, pretty please."

That earned me a smirk and he began singing quietly.

"Lately I found myself thinking

Been dreaming about you a lot

And up in my head I'm your boyfriend

But that's one thing you've already got."

"Aw come on, more please," I whined.

"Rachel, I'm not supposed to be singing them anyway. The album doesn't come out for two months."

"But it's not like I'm going to tell anyone," I murmured under my breath. The car stooped and he took my hand.

"I know you wouldn't," Harry said then leaned forward and kissed me. "But next time, you sing."

I groaned and he smirked and started tickling my bare stomach.

"Harry!" I gasped between giggles, "Harry, stop!"

"Well you shouldn't wear such tempting clothes," He breathed, pressing his lips to the skin below the start of my crop top. He brought his head to mine and kissed me softly, before we were interuppted by a knock on the window.

Harry shot up straight away and sighed in frustration. Liam was pressing his face up against the glass, Niall and Zayn standing behind him. Zayn was laughing, and Niall looked like he just didn't want to be there.

I got out of the car with Harry and followed him to were the boys were.

"Sorry, Haz. I wasn't interuppting anything, was I?" Liam asked innocently.

"Not at all," Harry grunted and went into the house. I went to follow him but someone grabbed my forearm. I turned round smiling, thinking it would be Zayn or Liam wanting to make a cheeky comment but it was Niall.

"Can we talk?" He asked. I nodded and he pulled me to the side to let people into the house.

"So what's up?" I prodded and wrapped my arms around myself.

"I'm completely fine about you and Harry. I know you wonder-"

"I don't-!"

"I can see you giving me worried-mother looks whenever we're all together," Niall smirked.

I blush, "Okay so is that all?"

"No. ...I still care about you though, Rachel. So if you ever need someone, I'm here," He shrugged. I pulled him into a fierce hug and sighed in relief.

"Niall," I breathed. Niall wrapped his arms around me. It was only then I noticed what he was wearing. "What are you supposed to be?"

He laughed and pulled away. "I'm a gentleman," He laughed, tipping his top hat. He was wearing a top hat and tails and a white shirt with blood spattered on it. I looked down and my stomach and laughed.

"You got your blood all over me, Niall!"

"Sorry," He grinned, spreading his hands.

"Let's go in," I said, heading into the house. I immediately found Harry.

"Where were you?" He asked, giving me a kiss on the cheek.

"Talking to Niall," I shrugged.

"Niall?" He frowned.

"Yep, we talked things over, we're completely fine now," I smiled.

"That's great," Harry grinned back and started dancing with me. I couldn't believe my luck. I was dating Harry Styles. It didn't seem right. I kept waiting for someone to shake me, waking me up from the dream. But no one did. It wasn't a dream.

I looked around the room. Louis was talking to Zayn and Perrie. Liam was sitting on the sofa in the corner, a beer in one hand and his phone in the other. Which made him look odd, seeing as he was in a superman costume. It took me a while to find Niall. Then I saw him. With his arm draped around Tiffany's perfect, skinny shoulders. I couldn't stop staring as she looked up at him under her eyelashes like an innocent four year old and he gazed back at her. I could feel myself practically shaking with rage. I didn't know why, we were supposed to be friends. Just friends. But I'd never been this jealous before.

"Are you cold? You're shivering," Harry asked, interuptting my angry trance.

"Um, yeah. I'm just going to the toilet," I smiled weakly then ducked out of the room. I had no idea where the bathroom was. I skipped up the stairs and checked the doors until I found it. I locked the door then sat on the edge of the bath. Resting my elbows on my knees, I held my head in my hands. My head hurt. My feelings were so mixed up. I thought there was nothing between me and Niall, that it was just a little spark, nothing more. I thought that I liked Harry. A lot. But now I was jealous of Tiffany. I wanted Niall to look at me the way he looked at her. But when I was with Nial I missed Harry.

Someone knocked on the door.

"Hello? Who's in there?" Tiffany's annoying, snooty voice came from behind the door. I sighed and opened the door.

"Sorry," I muttered and stepped around TIffany and Niall. Niall caught my arm, again.

"Hey, what's up?" Niall asked, his perfect blue eyes searching my face with worry.

"Nothing, why?" I laughed. Niall looked at me with dismay and brushed my face with his hand, making me aware of tears I had no recollection of crying.

"Tell me," He demanded. Just then Tiffany came out of the toilet, locking her arms around Niall's neck although he was still looking at me.

"Let's go dance, babe," Tiffany said to Niall, leaving bright red lipstick stains on his cheek where she kissed him. She was dressed as a burlesque dancer, in a pink glittery corset, fishnets and garters and heels to match her corset.

"See you later, Niall," I said before going back downstairs to find Harry.

"You took a while," Harry said when I finally found him.

"Sorry, I ran into Niall and TIffany," I shrugged.

"Yeah, she's quite...clingy?" Harry thought aloud looking across the room from where we stood by the mini bar to where everyone was dancing.

"At least they're happy," I shrugged again, following his gaze to Niall and Tiffany who were enthusiastically doing the Time Warp.

"Just like us," Harry sighed blissfully as he wrapped his arms round my waist.

"Yeah," I laughed distantly, already thinking about other things.

Is happy the best way to describe how I felt? I thought.

More like I was settling for what I thought I deserved the least and yearning for what I definately couldn't have.
