14. Truths

I guess that moment would have been a good point to freak out. But, looking back, I'm glad I stayed calm (although it took all of my training to remain 'unfazed'). I'm glad Zach was there with me, for what I thought would be my last moments. And I'm glad that Mr Solomon was there to save my life.

It happened so fast: I opened my mouth to speak, Zach was glancing around the room, desperately searching for a weapon - but we were interrupted by a figure racing across the room and tackling the intruder, before pointing the gun and pulling the trigger.

The hero? Joe Solomon. The villain? A man named James Mosckowitz.

I had been wrong about Mr Solomon. I thought he was against us, but it took a few very good spies and some very good friends to convince me otherwise. And he told me something I was not expecting to hear - my foster parents in England, the Townsend's, are spies. I waited for the catch, the laugh to escape from Mr Solomon's lips - but it never came. Now that I think of it, they did have a slight air of mystery about them. I needed them 3 years ago, and Abby needed them recently. They helped her escape from the man who took her in the restaurant. A man named James Mosckowitz.

After extensive research, Liz confirmed that this man was after me when he broke into the Gallagher Academy. He mistook Cammie for me, pounced from behind, leaving her injured. He soon realised his mistake and made a hasty retreat.

He tried to take Zach when we were on the streets. He successfully took Abby. He was almost successful in ending my life. And then it dawned on me; I was no longer the connection.

But what was?
