6. The new girl

'You'll be fine,' said Eva.

Fine? I had to sit through 11 hours of exams (including a Protection and Enforcement exam, which was very hard in uncomfortable shoes), I was surrounded by strangers and about to be enrolled in a school for spies? Needless to say I wasn't feeling fine, but I'm pretty sure Eva was trying to reassure me, so I just nodded and headed towards the enormous set of double doors that led to the Gallagher Academy.

I've been surrounded by enemy agents countless times, blown up buildings and jumped from moving trains, but right then I had never been more terrified. Instantly I was surrounded by girls all wearing the same uniform as me, but I couldn't feel more different. Well, that was before a gorgeous girl with a very mischievous grin bounded towards me.

"Tell me everything!" she exclaimed. She was British. It was comforting to hear someone with the same accent as me. A smile spread across my face.

"It's nice to meet you," I said. But before I could say anything else, another girl ran towards me.

"Is it true that you led the Circus mission in Egypt last year?" she asked at about 90 miles an hour. I laughed.

"Yeah, I did. I'm Charlie, it's good to meet you."

Suddenly, a whole group of girls approached me, asking similar questions. Eva whispered in my ear: " You're in Bex's suite, so I'll leave you with her. Good luck!"

Bex grabbed my arm and led me up the biggest staircase I'd ever seen and through several corridors, lit by shimmering chandeliers. Bex read my shocked expression and laughed.

"We're regularly visited by guests, so it has to look good," she told me. Good was an understatement - this place was amazing! For the first time since I arrived there I felt excited. But that excitement was quickly replaced with fear as I entered our suite, smiled at the two other girls and opened my mouth to speak, only to be stopped when someone grabbed my arm, twisted me around and slapped me in the face.

What a welcome.
