16. A man I knew

If you are very observant, you may have noticed that I had begun to call Joe Solomon 'Mr Solomon'. He returned to the Gallagher Academy to teach Covert Operations, and I am in his class. He wasn't teaching for about a year due to injury - something to do with a fire in a school called Blackthorne. It didn't seem too relevant, but I was glad he was back. Together, we found the connection.

The Gallagher Academy.

It seemed such an obvious answer, so we didn't consider it at first. But some of the best plots are kept simple. James Mosckowitz wanted to bring down the Gallagher Academy for a reason that is unknown. We're working on it, but he was no fool - he managed to keep his motives hidden well.

There was one thing that I didn't quite understand. I tried to label it as irrelevant, tried to push it to the back of my mind.

Sometimes the tiniest details can be very important, I thought, before realising these weren't my words - they were my father's.

I studied the people sat in front of me. Cammie, Bex, Liz, Macey. Mr Solomon. Abby. The headmistress. But only when my eyes fell on Zach did I summon the courage to speak.

"When I saw James in the restaurant, I recognised him."

The door swung open before anyone could speak. A stance I knew, a face I recognised. A man whom I had admired.

Had admired, until the truth slammed into me.

I recognised James, because he looked like the man who stood before us now.

This man was his brother.

"Hello, Mr Mosckowitz," said Mr Solomon.
