Please don't die on me

"My Dad has cancer. I don't know what to do."

Angelica's Dad has cancer. When her Mum and Dad got divorce, she chose to live with her fun-loving Dad over her drugged up Mum. Angelica's Dad was re-married, and had two more kids, Morgan and Cerys.

Twelve years later, Marvin got lung cancer. He has a fifty-fifty chance of survival. Angelica, has to learn that her Dad might not survive. What's a girl to do. Pray and say...

3. Coping with the news

I felt like I was falling to the bottom of a hole. My Dad. Had. Lung cancer. No, thats not right. He never smoked and he was healthy as a horse. He never ate to much junk food or started to be a couch potato, but LUNG CANCER! I almost blacked out myself. It was horrifing. The doctor was talking and Joanna and Dad were nodding away. The doctor turned to me.

'.... so Angelica is it? You okay?' I blinked and glared at him.

'Do you think I'm okay?' I said quietly.

'What?'

'I said, DO YOU THINK I'M OKAY WITH IT!?!? I'VE JUST BEEN TOLD MY DAD HAS CANCER, SO HOW ON THIS BLINKING EARTH DO YOU THINK I'M O-FREAKING-KAY!?!?' He blushed. I glared at him. He shuffled slightly away from me.

'Sorry' Then, he shuffled away. I turned to my Dad and Joanna, who were blinking crazyily. Did I mention, I didn't shout at all to strangers?

'Angelica. Swetie. Don't be mad at him. I mean. Look okay so I have cancer. I dosen't mean It will change anything.'

'Yes it will! Now that you have cancer, we can't do all the fun things we used to do. I'm gonna sit in the car.' I walked out of the ward and walked to the car. I opened the door, sat in the seat. Then cried.

~

My school weeks were awful. My friends kept on telling me they were sorry about my Dad, and so were everyone else. I wish they wouldn't keep going on about it.

Three weeks past since the news and I had already got myself into trouble. We were sitting in English. Ms. Oswald was telling us about speeches when one of the nerdy kids in our class stuck his hand up.

'Yes, Kyle?'

'Miss, what about the homework?'

'Oh yes. Thank you Kyle. Now, I might collect them now.' We all groaned and glared at him. He had to say something like that. She got to me and held out her hand.

'Angelica, homework?'

'Didn't do it...'

'What? Never done it? Why not?'

'Miss, you know my dad's in hospital with cancer. I have to help Joanna get my sister's ready for school and help round the house. I don't have time for homework anymore.'

'Angelica, I'm really sorry about you're Father, I am. But If you never done you're homework, then that's no real excuse.'

'Excuse.... EXCUSE?!?!? YOU THINK MY DAD HAVING CANCER I A LIE!!?? MISS YOU  KNOW IT'S TRUE, BUT THAT'S NO EXCUSE FOR YOU TO SAY THAT THAT'S AN EXCUSE!!!'

'Angelica, if you want to end up at the head's office...'

'BE MY GUEST! I DON'T CARE! BUT IF I HEAR THAT ONE MORE TIME FROM YOU'RE SOUR MOUTH, I'LL CLEAN IT OUT WITH SOAP!' Not a real threat, but everyone went silent.

'Angelica..... Head's office. Now.'

So, I was there explaining it all to Miss. Kieth. Thats when Joanna came. She sent me out and had a private talk with the head. When they came out, I stood up.

'Angel, You'll stay off for a few weeks, until you've camled down abit.' I stormed past them both and thundered down the corridor. I continued to run until I came to the swing park Dad used to take me to with Mum. I sat on my favourite swing and cried. I cried until Joanna found me.
