Life Lessons

This is a Movella filled with life lessons. It's not a story, or full of poems. It is simply full of what I've learnt from life, and what others have learnt.

1. Value Your Life

Most days, you feel like the world is about to end, or that you want to jump off of a cliff and die. But you should always value what was given to you in the form of life.

27/6/12 is the date, and today was like any other. All until at the end of period three, I found out that one of my friends had died in their sleep, and was found dead that morning by her sister.

My first reaction was shock. She was a perfectly healthy girl, always smiling, always happy. She was the last person I would've expected to die. As the news sank in and spread, I began to realise the enormity of it all. How much of a hole that is going to be left in everyone's hearts. The school will never be the same. It wasn't the same. The teachers were crying, the students were crying and an atmospere hung over the school campus like a dark cloud.

I cried today. I cried for her, for her sister and for her parents. I cried for all of her friends. And I cried for losing touch with her, and not talking for such a long time. After being quite close a few years ago, the news hit me like an avalanche, and soon I was pulled under the wave of depression that had swept over the school.

Her death has given not only me, but a whole load of other people, a wake-up call. It slapped us round the face and screamed for us to value our lives, and make the most of what we have. Don't ditch friends and family for something that won't be there in the long run. Tell the people you care about that you love them, and take every opportunity in hand. Because it could've been you who went to sleep and never woke up again.

In memory of A. Reid.

A wonderful and inspirational girl.
