The Guardian Angel

Sixteen year old Caitlynn lost both her parents and her younger brother in a car accident. She has now been adopted by her aunt and uncle. She is looking forward to a hard life, but what happens when she meets Tedd, a kind but quite weird boy, and the mysterious Audrey, who tells her a story about different worlds, a kingdom, angels and God?

Note: I put the chapters up as pages - so each chapter is approximately one page in my Word document. AND, sorry for typos and mistakes - I rarely look back at it, so please forgive me.

“As I told you, you were - and are still - good and generous as the day. You looked quite alike what you do now - same personality, same looks, same name. I don’t really know what to tell you other than that.” He told me.

“Then tell me about us. It feels so weird, I know that I know you, but still I don’t know you at all.” At this, he smiled broadly.

“You really are like you were at that time. But, oh well. As you know, I have always been by your side. Possibly, you saw me more as a brother than a guardian, and I didn’t mind that. It was easier to protect you when I knew you so well. And I really did enjoy your company. As a child, you were the happiest and most adorable little thing that I had ever seen. I played with you all day long, never left your side. Your mother always put you to bed, but I was sitting outside your room, and when you had fallen asleep, I sat in the corner of your room, watching you sleep.” By then, his eyes looked so far away. He was telling me about this, but clearly he was caught up in memories. “As you grew up, you started becoming so curious about the worlds around you. You wanted to go on adventures, and I often brought you to the other worlds, showing you everything you wanted to see. I did teach you everything you wanted to know, and that was quite a lot.

When you were around the same age as you are now, you started to confide in me in different ways than you had done before - you told me about hopes and dreams you had, about your thoughts and meanings. It was around this time that I… realized how much I cared about you. Once, you went to one of the worlds without me. When you came back in the middle of the night, you was beaten up and broken - you had tears in your eyes, your whole face was wide in panic. You had figured out how to close me out - you had left your necklace before leaving, wanting to be on your own for once. You found me in the hall of the castle where you lived, I was looking for you, all the guardian angels was searching for you - but you found me, and you ran straight into my arms, saying that you would never do anything like that ever again. You were crying, and as I hold you, I felt how afraid I had been, not because you were the priestess, but because I loved you from the bottom of my heart. When I had seen you so beaten up, I got so angry and worried at the same time that I couldn’t even figure out what to do. When you had been patched up and I was sure that you were safe, I went to the world where you had been, found the robbers that had attacked you, and I beat them up even worse than they had beaten you. I never wanted to see you hurt ever again. So when I found you, a couple of years later, lying dead on the floor, I broke down. Since the moment that I felt your soul not leaving us, I started searching for you. I did not stop. For 4000 years, I searched for you. And I finally found you.” His eyes focused again, looking straight at me. He had tears in his eyes, but I couldn’t figure out whether they were tears of sadness or joy. I felt, all through this story, that it was more real than anything else.

Audrey fell to his knees in front of my, grabbing my hands.
