The Guardian Angel

Sixteen year old Caitlynn lost both her parents and her younger brother in a car accident. She has now been adopted by her aunt and uncle. She is looking forward to a hard life, but what happens when she meets Tedd, a kind but quite weird boy, and the mysterious Audrey, who tells her a story about different worlds, a kingdom, angels and God?

Note: I put the chapters up as pages - so each chapter is approximately one page in my Word document. AND, sorry for typos and mistakes - I rarely look back at it, so please forgive me.

“Open your eyes…” Audrey whispered, and when I opened them, they went much wider than I had planned - looking at my hands, I saw golden glow. Not like glitter or something, but gold, unearthly glowing - my skin was actually shining. I could almost see it through my clothing, so strong was is.

“Holy freakshow!” Tedd said beside me, and upon looking at him, I realized that he glowed to, but it wasn’t a golden glow like mine, but more blueish. Audrey shinned too, now. Silver and white, in a strange mix. They were mixing up, but I wasn’t able to see if they intertwined, was nicely beside each other, like stripes, or on top of each other - I just saw both. He then stood up, gesturing us to do the same.

“Now, hold your hands out - try channeling all the power you can into the palms of your hands - if you succeed in this, a glowing ball will appear.”

I starred at my hands, concentrating very hard on channeling this strange power into my hands.

But, even after 15 tries, I hadn’t managed. Neither had Tedd, but Audrey didn’t look disappointed at all.

“You’re doing great. I can feel you getting closer and closer. I hadn’t expected you to do this at first try - remember that it has been many years since you tried this, and never in these bodies before. But we should hold for today - you are getting tired, and I wouldn’t want you to get sick.” Audrey told us. We had been out there for two hours, and even though the power inside me felt warm, I was getting cold to the bones. I had been shaking slightly the last half hour, and was now looking forward to getting home to a cup og steaming hot tea. “Tedd, I need to follow Caitlynn home. I don’t think you will be in any danger, but I will keep an ear out for you. Anything happen, call my name and I will be there as fast as I can.” Tedd smiled, looking as tired as I felt. He gave the white guy thumbs up. Then he closed the space between the two of us, and gave me a hug.

“This has been the weirdest day ever, but fun. Looking forward to doing it again,” he said, letting go of me and stretching his hand towards Audrey. Audrey grabbed it in one of those typical boyish handshakes. Then Tedd turned on his heels and went ahead. Audrey turned towards me.

“Are you okay? You look dead tired.” He said, looking at me with worry.

“Yeah,” I nodded. “I just need to go home and have some tea and make my fingers unfreeze again.” I smiled at him, and felt a little warmer inside when he smiled back at me - he seemed to have forgiven my mistake earlier.

I started walking, blowing on my hands and then quickly put them inside my pockets on the jacket. I felt Audrey walking beside me, but not really knowing what to say, I just kept quiet.
