The Guardian Angel

Sixteen year old Caitlynn lost both her parents and her younger brother in a car accident. She has now been adopted by her aunt and uncle. She is looking forward to a hard life, but what happens when she meets Tedd, a kind but quite weird boy, and the mysterious Audrey, who tells her a story about different worlds, a kingdom, angels and God?

Note: I put the chapters up as pages - so each chapter is approximately one page in my Word document. AND, sorry for typos and mistakes - I rarely look back at it, so please forgive me.

20. Page twenty + twentyone

Authors note: I put these two and a third pages together, since it's a story, so I thought it should be together, though it will be long. :)

“Be quite, stupid. I am not going to hurt you,” the boy said, but his words did not comfort me. My body was still frozen rigid with fear - he had moved so fast that I saw him only as a flash of light. He slowly pulled away, removing his hand, and as he did so, I swung my arms with the book in my hands downwards, hitting him hard in the forehead.

“Auch! What did you do that for? Blimey that’s a giant book…” he grabbed his forehead with his hands, obviously caught off guard, did not expect me to attack. I raised the book once more, but I didn’t even get it as high as I wanted, before he grabbed the book with one hand, and pushed me down on my bed with the other. “Enough,” he said, making it clear that I could not surprise him again. His eyes looked puzzled, but slightly amused, which was confirmed by the flicker of a smile in the corner of his mouth. I quickly stood up on my bed, trying to run around him, but he just put an arm around my waist and keept me still. I struggled like mad, but he didn’t even seem to notice it. Then, with an almighty strength, he made me sit down on my bed.

“Sit down and listen to me,” his voice was soft, almost like a plea. “I am not going to hurt you. I’m on your side.” But the circumstances during the last days had made me scared like a wild animal. He was a danger, something that I didn’t trust. But the softness in his voice when he repeated his words made my heart calm down, and I stopped struggling against him, and he let out a sigh of relief.

“Okay. This is going to be quite a long story, so you’ll have to be patient. Just listen - please,” he looked at me, waiting for me to give him a sign that I will. After a short while, I nodded once, and he gave me a tiny smile.

“I’ll start of with the beginning. The world that you know, is only a part our great universe. There are worlds parallel to this - worlds that you can’t even imagine. Protecting and watching over these magnificent worlds is God. He isn’t, though, like the God in which you believe. God is powerful, but not much different from yours. He is my superior, but all the while my equal. He doesn’t punish, nor does he reward. He was, in the beginning, formed by a single star. He did build this world, as He did build all of its brothers and sisters, world parallel to this. When He found that he had created a good and peaceful world, He saw that he had made one big mistake - the living beings that He had formed of His love and caring hadn’t ended up like He had wanted it to. They started killing each other. They were filled with grief, madness and anger. He had no possibility to change this, though, so instead of whipping out everything, He made up a handful of brilliant, caring and loving human beings, inspired to Him by His beautiful wife, Penelope. She was, as Himself, formed out of a single star. She had named Him Antonius, like He had named Her Penelope. When Penelope gave birth to a daughter, Antonius decided that She was to have a guardian. To make one powerful enough to protect his daughter from all evil in the worlds, he took stargleam, a bit of dust from each world and a breath of his newborn daughter and from this, he made The Guardian Angles. We were six - Abraham, Noah, Zara, Moses, Juliet and Audrey. I, Audrey, was created as the youngest and chosen as the Guardian of the young priestess. Abraham, Noah, Zara and Moses are the real people behind the persons from the bible. Juliet is, as you may have guessed, the real girl of which Shakespeare wrote the legendary story of the young pair of lovers. I kept in the background, stayed beside the young priestess, and is therefore not mentioned anywhere. I was given a bracelet by Antonius, and the priestess wore a necklace, the twin of my bracelet,” he pulled up his sleeve, to reveal a beautiful bracelet, which covered his whole wrist, light brown leather, on it was jewelry, almost a silver broche with two beautifully carved, white wings on it. “Wearing these, I would be able to tell if the priestess where in danger.

I saw this child grow up, going through the stages of life that I had never had, since I was in this form, when I was created. I followed her, always making sure that she was safe and happy. I took pleasure in her company. She was good and beautiful as the sun, with the brilliant mind of an army of wise men and the courage of a thousand lionesses. I cherished her. She felt happy when I was around, and as she grew older, I became her best friend, and her mine. One day, when she was 18 years of age, She went to one of the worlds, the world that we call Geeva, quite alike this, just with the difference that they are stuck in what is much like your 16th century. She went alone, and there she met a king. They fell in love immediately, and with Antonius and Penelope’s blessing, they got married. I looked from a distance, my heart broken. I stood by my sister, Juliet, that I told you about before. She looked as crestfallen as me, if not even more. I came to know later on, that she had been hopelessly in love with this king, and seeing him marrying the priestess broke her heart as much as it broke mine.

The priestess became a queen. Her goodness, her loving and caring heart, her clever mind, was what kept the worlds at a perfect balance. That is why what happened next became so fatal. Juliet, who had become so filled with rage and envy, went to kill the priestess. She broke her bonds to Antonius, and her pure, white wings turned black. We didn’t know what was happening until it was too late. When I arrived at the castle in which the priestess lived with her husband, a terrible scream filled my ears and pierced my heart once again. When I flew through the window to her chamber, I saw her lying on the floor in a pool of her own blood. It wasn’t red, it was silver as the stars from which her parents where made of. I was too late. I saw Juliet standing in the corner, laughing with cold madness in her voice. Her eyes was wide, her wings darker than the darkest night. When Antonius heard about this, he was mad with sorrow, and he doomed her to be the Guardian of the Death. He couldn’t take her powers away, but he could change it, and this is what he did. But not only had Juliet, whom we now call Lady Juliet, killed the priestess, she had also killed the priestesses counselor and close friend, who had the name Teddious. I felt, standing in the room, that their souls weren’t lost, though - I felt them swaying beside me, then disappearing to a world which we cannot reach. This is now 3000 years away, and since that day, I have been looking for her soul. Unfortunately, Lady Juliet sought, too, and found it first. It had come back, in the form of a little child, a girl, looking exactly like the priestess had. She was found a month ago. And not many days back, her whole family was killed by Lady Juliet, in what seemed like an accident,” as those words entered my heard, my blood started flowing rapidly around my body. “I was there in the very last second, though, and I was able to save her, but had no time to safe her family. Do you know what child I am talking about?” He, Audrey, I knew now, looked at me. The story was crazy, unreal. But something in me told my brain, begged it, to believe this boy. And so I did. Slowly, I nodded.

“Me..” I whispered. I wanted it to sound like a question, but I failed at that. I was too sure. It was crazy. He nodded.

“And that boy you met earlier today is the incarnation of your old counselor. The creature that attacked you today was one of Lady Juliet’s mad beasts. I was the one who got it to disappear. I was the one who healed you both, and cleaned up the mess in the kitchen. She is trying to make an end to you once and for all, and I am going to protect you with all my might. Not only to keep the balance of the worlds, but also…” his words faded away without him ending his sentence.
